Can anyone add an idea to what was going on here with Lemania & Heuer.
I have seen a number of various brands using the Lemania 9801-72, even a small number of Marlboro stamped dials which were given to Marlboro company executives. Even Lemania, Carl F. Bucherer, Nivada, and numerous other brands had their own stamped dials using the 9801-72. However, I have never seen a Heuer production series of these.
As you can see it is stamped 9801-72 on the inside case back which is the Lemania reference and It is powered by the Lemania 1341 and in many respects this Heuer's dial and cushion case, is very similar to Lemania’s own branded dial as seen here:

with great thanks to @northenman the serials 3.5xx.xxx date to 1981/82, so that would be during the Heuer period.

I have been unable to find a similar Heuer production example, so I am beginning to think it may possibly be a some kind of Prototype by Lemania or Heuer based on the Lemania Chronograph ref: perhaps as a competitor for the Omega Speedmaster Mk IV sometime before Lemania owned Heuer and the Swatch group subsequently owned Lemania.

Short of sending it to Tag Heuer or the Swatch Group with the hope they may have a record of the serial number seen stamped on the rotor, does anyone have an idea of what may have been going on here?

Thanks in advance
