I was thinking you meant some very poor judging in some places - if so, agreed (but it was ever thus), and some lop-sided brackets too. It would be a sad day if boxing gets dropped, but the absurd and unhelpful global governance of the sport has a lot to answer for.
I was beginning to think rabbit punches to the back of the head were legal in the Olympics as the ref ignores them. They are dangerous shots.

"Each one of those cameras had a single job: taking 40,000 images per second of a race that would come down to a photo finish.

The impossible closeness of the race—barely a tenth of a second separated first and last place—made it “a perfect showcase for our technology,” said Omega CEO Alain Zobrist."

Excellent showcase for Omega

Who could have seen this coming after everything that was going on? This just reeks of utter disdain for the athletes involved.

"Belgium triathlete Claire Michel has been taken to the hospital after becoming ill. The team’s mixed relay for tomorrow has scratched as Michel has had to withdraw.

According to the Belgium news outlet, De Standaard, Michel is sick after becoming infected with E. Coli. Michel was one of 55 women to dive in the Seine River for the women’s triathlon this past Wednesday. She finished 38th overall."

There are a lot of salty Jamaican fans saying Kishane won because his foot crossed first even though T&F rules always say it's the torso crossing that determines the winner.

Lyle wore a DSOTM in the men’s 100 final…

The Omega marketing team was obviously thinking a little laterally about what a ‘Speedmaster’ can be when they signed him as a brand ambassador.
Lyles is an Omega ambassador so expect to see Omega take full advantage of that in advertising to come. That's gold for Omega. Tying your product, Speedmaster or other, to the world's fastest man is pure gold. I would also expect Omega to play up the precision aspect of the timing system used......precision able to measure the winner by 0.005 seconds.

The rules are very clear on what determines the winner, and every runner knows it's not the head, feet or hands that counts, it's the torso. That's why they thrust their heads forward at the finish line, when the head goes forward the torso follows.

I'm also pretty sure that Kerley's foot crossed the line before Kishane's so if Jamaican fans are going to argue that Kishane still comes in 2nd.

What a fantastic start to the track cycling!

GB women break the sprint world record three times in a row to win gold.

I love the bottom comment Rolex would have put the runners on a waitlist ha ha

Another Omega ambassador, Mondo Duplantis, just set a WR in the pole vault of 6.25m. Looks like he was wearing a Seamaster with a yellow strap to match Sweden's team gear. A good 24 hr for Omega.

That was pretty amazing to watch. Last event of the day, 70,000 people cheering him on as went for the record.

I just re-wound to the badminton mixed dubbs final, China vs Korea. The speed and athleticism was mind-boggling. About a dozen jump-smashes in a row on something like the fifth point left me exhausted just watching.

I also enjoyed big (100kg+) Teddy Riner winning judo for France - they love him so much, and you can understand why. His win was so decisive and he looked so happy!

I also loved the way Faulkner of USA left the European big guns behind at 3 km to go in the women's road race. While the three chasers had a committee meeting, she stormed to victory, and again her happiness was clear to see.

Olympic events are called off once again for the Fifth time because of the raw sewage being pumped into the River Seine
..as athletes are starting to become ill and withdraw from the Olympics,
that's so sad, it was my fear and very sadly it's now coming to fruition
🙁

Yeah, it was incredible .. Increasing each world record by tiny increments, so that he can pull them out of the bag as and when he wants, he's very shrewd, I also think it has something to do with his sponsorship deal👍

Crazy. Athletes camps are not looking good either. Saw the one guy rather sleep outside by a bench. I mean 3000 condoms and a shit living situation. Sounds like college all over again.

Not such a big fan of him, but he ran a great race!
He wants to be loved worldwide like Usain Bolt, can't see that ever happening though

Paris spent $1.5 billion to make the Seine safe to swim in, and here we are. By next spring Parisians will be legally allowed to swim in the river for the first time in 100 years. Oh boy.
