The Olympics offers us the chance to watch sports that don't get much coverage otherwise. Just been enjoying the team archery, well done South Korea. I have also watched the womens 7s rugby, 10m air rifle, some beach volleyball, boxing and cycling. What sports in the Olympics do you like to see that you might not watch otherwise?
I am a fan of the high jump. Field events don't get much respect in the track and field world, so not sure how much coverage will be televised of the high jump. Last Olympics the US silvered in the men and women's hj event.
That video shows excellent examples of how I think I look while playing ping pong on vacation...Luckily, no videos to prove the contrary My favorites to watch are volleyball, judo, boxing, and weight lifting.
Faves are pole vault, women's volleyball, shooting sports, women's gymnastics. Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk
I'm not a cycling fan, but that was one hell of a finish. Especially with the Olympics, I enjoy watching the sports I otherwise rarely watch. I mean medals for bows and arrows? Who knew? That helps. I played both beach and indoor, so VB is top of my list.
Track cycling, watching them drop off end bank to the straight at top speed is always cool. The speed they get up to is crazy
Oh I love the Olympics. A chance to make money and fund the next watch. So placed a cant fail treble on: McIlroy for the Golf. Sharapova for the tennis. Finally the dead cert Yelena Isinbayeva the pole vaulter. Shall watch with interest
My fave is drug test wriggling, I'm expecting the Russians to make a 'clean' sweep of it this year....
I think I got it figured out - why Saw a member of the Swiss women's team that caught my eye. If I could post a scan, I'm sure you'll know what caught/got in my eyes
All of them...but of course one sport has a particular interest for me. And Korea (as usual) is dominating...so watched the men's team event on line yesterday, and will watch the women today...wore my Tudor Sub... New world record in the ranking round Korea's top male archer (700 out of a possible 720), plus an absolutely dominating win over the US yesterday in the Gold Medal match. It's not that Brady and the boys didn't shoot well - they certainly did, but when Korea has set scores (each out of 60 possible points) of 60 (!), 58, and 59 in the gold medal final, that's going to be pretty tough to beat! This is the "mic drop" of archery, shooting the last 10 at 70 meters for a perfect 60 score and just turning and walking off the shooting line... No reason to think the Korean women will do any worse - they have won the last 7 consecutive Olympic Team events... In addition to watching the team events, I have a friend (Crispin Duenas representing Canada) in the men's individual event, so will be watching him in his matches certainly. His coach and the Olympic coach for every Canadian team since 1996 is my old coach, so she will also be there. We do have one woman archer as well, not someone I know well, but will still watch how she does of course. Crispin was 18th (of 64) in the ranking round, so will hopefully be able to advance in his first match and beyond. It's his 3rd Olympics so hoping he has better luck than in London. There he was 8th after the ranking round and came up against a guy who was super "on" that day, dropping perfect 30's on Crispin and getting a pretty big upset. That's why they don't just hand out the medals - you have to win them. I will be cramming in as much of the Olympics as possible, so if I'm not around or not responding....you know why... Cheers, Al
Can't believe the number of angry Chinese people that are coming after our gold medal winning swimmer for saying Sun Yang tested positive, his last Instagram post has over 350,000 replied 99.9% of them from Chinese people that are upset. I met some of the players of the Canadian Volleyball team on a plane trip from Finland, a month or so ago, a nice bunch of guys, so I hope they do well although they said their chances of winning a medal were slim.
