This is off topic, but Panjo, I like what I can see of your avatar photograph. Can't see all of it and the reading glasses aren't helping enough, but is that a 1949 Cadillac?

I have quite a crush on the old Geneves. The dial furniture on these models are just mesmerising.

Here are my day and night pair. A 2754 from around 1954 and a 2982 from 1959.

You could always start a new thread for later Genèves although be aware that some OF members tend to denigrate these and bracket them with Timex and Invicta watches. 😀

They are cheap, but very enjoyable. With the right bracelet they represent the perfect daily wearer.

Well, if you do start a ‘Later Genèves-let’s see ‘em’ thread, I’ll post my few. 😀

I really think that the older Genéves are very underrated watches. At the time, they were second only to the Constellation line in Omega’s stable of dress watches. Personally, I think that it’s much more difficult to find a vintage 1950’s/early 1960’s Geneve in excellent shape than it is to find a Constellation from the same period in similar condition.

I got my great grandfathers Genève when I turned 20, this is the watch that made me love watches and the condition is mint. When he passed away the watch was in a safe for almost 30 years. Ofc the affection value is very high 😀 It needs a service though since the crown isn't really operating smoothly. Unfortunately I know very little about this watch in general. If anybody knows the reference number please feel free to fill in!

One of the earliest, serial 1381***, so probably 1953. Ref. 2748-2.

Yup - checks out. Note that the early ones had no partial index at "6", they were added a few years later.
