Hi,

Received this in my great grandfathers will. I have no idea about watches but was told it was purchased in the early 50s. Does that check out? Also, would love to know the model and some more info. Manual wind, photo isnt very good but in the flesh face looks a lot more golden although dial is white.

Thanks in advance!

No, that is a later model. Mid to late '60s perhaps.

I love the script 'Geneve' text on these dials. Takes it to an even classier/elegant level.

And here’s my more “common” white waffle dial version

I love the "up close and personal" views of your waffle dial Geneve! Great detail to absorb!

Thanks!

You have got a nice SM Geneve but it does not belong into this thread - it is out of a much younger series...

Better start a new thread and you will probably receive more attention and advice.

Adding my Heirloom 1958ish Geneve Automatic

From what my research i believe below is correct:
-491 movement w/serial 16546394
-18k national case marked F.C. 4048 (not sure of production country, father spent time in Spain, Brazil, and Uruguay so assuming one of or possibly even Argentina)
-2981 series i believe

From my research seems to be pretty rare combination of Pan Pie Cross Hair dial w/Arabic Numerals

In good running shape for its age, recieved a replacement crown and some polishing along its life

Just need to service and decide on a strap to get it in the rotation

It has gotten the Measles 😀

Patina is tricky one. A few pages back there is a nice all over brown patina dial.
It seems - besides its an acquired taste - that patina is or less; only the lume aging. Or all in; the whole dial evenly spotted or brown or crackled. In between is mostly a dial with pimples. Give it some time to grow up 😀
