Good God, man! That'll be some project. Maybe grab some Sabian polish at the same time? 😜

I sure wish I could see your bandmates faces when you tell them you 'just need a moment to swap heads'. Mind you, that's payback for years of 'Shhhh.....can't you see I'm tuning....?'

Wishing you a fine show!

It's ok, my band mates bitch at me about the PATINA on my cymbals, but to me it's like that on a watch dial -- shows the history. 😁

Had something similar about 6 years ago. Worked out OK. Some nerve damage so loss of feeling down front of leg and some reduction in flexibility but all in all a success story.
Follow all the guidelines and do exactly as advised

Y`all had x-rays ! For me it was touch and feel by the surgeon on duty while i was passed out ....

I used to play with a guy who had an old 30" ride. He claimed that he buried it in the sand for a year. It's tone was amazing.

My view tonight

30” ride? I thought 24” was the largest ride cymbal. Holy shit what a beast.

Me? I’ve owned my 20” USA Zildjian K since 1980. Many producers have mentioned it’s one of the best they’ve heard. I’d likely sell all my gear before getting rid of it. Kinda like my first OF purchase. 😉

So I'm guessing, OF watercooler, a place to shoot the shit kinda thing😀, so questions, anybody got any metal in them?
I took a bit of a tumble 3 weeks ago while skiing, ended up with this, left tibia fractures.

Anybody got something similar, how did it work out? I'm all good, just need to be patient now, fortunately time I have so one day at a time.
Cheers
B

Yes, I had a total knee replacement in 2018. So far, so good!

My X-Ray is attached.

Always wished my parents would've let me take drum lessons. Seeing the drummer's perspective reminded me of this scene of Phil Collins on stage. Amazed at how bands like Genesis and The Grateful Dead would have 2 full drum kits on tour.

Speaking of water coolers, they've certainly come a long way. The ones I see now are hot and cold water with a plumbed option. Plus coffee pod.

My daughter was involved in a very serious equestrian accident a few years ago. She was thrown from a horse during competitive jumping. She and the horse hit the ground hard and then the 1,100 pound horse rolled over on her while trying to get up. She fractured three vertebrae and punctured a lung. I'll say that it ranks #1 among the most frightening telephone calls that I've ever received. She was in surgery for five and a half hours with a team of doctors and the DaVinci robot. She has a Christmas tree pattern of incision scars on her back where they went in and she has a permanent structure of titanium that in x-rays looks like a railroad track (rails running along each side of her spine with cross ties that stabilized the vertebrae while they healed). Other than some slight stiffness at times and a small loss of range of motion, she made a full recovery. I will be eternally grateful to her medical team at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She received incredibly good, compassionate care and her surgeons were the best of the best.

Glad to hear that she made a good recovery. Horses are no joke. When I was little, I helped my grandpa take care of horses during the summers. He was a retired dairy farmer and did odd jobs at a horse breeder to keep busy in retirement. Everyone who worked there full time and/or was a competitive rider has sooooooo many injuries from the horses.

In retrospect, I wonder why whoever handled the insurance for the place let me wonder around cleaning up horse poo and brushing horses at the age of 8. Luckily, the worst I ever got was there was a little goat there that really didn't like me and kept waiting for opportunities to ram me when I wasn't paying attention.

I can't imagine the worry. Thank God and the surgeons she recovered OK.

She has been back at it for quite awhile now, so I’ve just learned to live with the worry. At least now she wears a Kevlar vest that inflates automatically to protect her torso if she’s thrown. Damn kids … 🥰😲🥰

Both my kids ride, show jumping. I've had that phone call, my daughter had a fall and broke her leg, I didn't know the severity at the time but the shock will always stay with me. Fortunately it was a relatively uncomplicated break and no surgery was required. I think I heard somewhere that the horse is the most dangerous animal in Australia which is saying something.
I'm so glad your daughter has made a full recovery, no doubt a great relief to you.
I too have a new found respect for surgeons, what they do and how they advance medical care is truly amazing and a demonstration of altruism at it's best.

It's never too late, y'know! Take lessons if drumming still intrigues you. I'm lucky my parents bought me a real drumset on my 10th birthday. My bedroom was next to theirs, may their poor souls rest in peace.

There's nothing quite like playing (or having a bash!) on an acoustic drum set. But before you annoy your neighbours and the family with a real kit, however, there are often used electronic kits for sale on Craigslist, or discounted ones from reputable stores and online retailers. At the very least, a pair of sticks and a practice pad will set you back +/-$40. Not a bad investment in your rock and roll future!
