Thank you for the write up. I have not seen any info on the case it comes in, are they still doing the the moon presentation case with the additional straps or does it come in a standard red omega presentation case?

Neither.
The case appears the same as the outgoing Moonwatch case, but it is smaller.
Also no goodies inside like the loupe, tool strap and medallion.
Only a clever miniature lift out travel case that's integrated into the interior design.

There's plenty to google on it as well as reviews on this forum for you to see.

There is a new box for this model, and the sizing is more in line with the standard Omega boxes (the wood ones). It doesn't include any of the extra straps, etc, but it does have a built-in mini travel cube you can use to store the watch in, and is styled like the old moonwatch box. I think some members here have posited that it looks like a recolored Snoopy 3 box sans loupe, and that would seem to be an accurate description. That said, I haven't yet received my Snoopy, nor do I own the old moonwatch box, so there could be some other differences I'm not aware of, though.
I compared it to my (white) Snoopy box the other day. It's slightly larger than the Snoopy box. The travel cube is very cool!

Tried one on today. (Hestalite).

I have to say, I've never been enamored with the Speedy Moon, but would actually consider the upgraded bracelet, sapphire etc, as great steps towards making me a Speedmaster owner one day.

They can list it for twelvety million and often do, whether anyone would be daft enough to pay it would be another story. Chrono24 is completely useless as a means of gauging a fair price for something.

I did see a couple listings in Europe that were posted for about ~1-2k above MSRP disappear, I think they were sold, but that's probably due to the initial hype around the release.
I imagine that with how many Speedmasters have been produced, it's probably unlikely that there will ever be a Daytona situation here, so I wouldn't be too concerned regarding waiting times.

Moderators: I guess all the 861/1861 threads need to be migrated to the vintage forum now? 😉

Thank you for the write up. I am waiting for a sapphire. You helped address concerns I have about the milk ring.

Yea, it is funny to be someone who is intimately familiar with the forums (this, WatchUSeek, Rolex, others)--but with no "cred" because I rarely (basically never) post.

Thanks for the recognition.

Naw, around here lack of cred results purely from your lack of aviator photo 😉

Excellent review and great photography! It really does seem to sit noticeably lower on the wrist. Thank you!
