The line is where you put it.
On another philosophical note, I regret the purchases I didn't make a lot more than the purchases I did more often than not.

Maybe you need to do more watch shopping under the influence? @JwRosenthal seems to do well with this method. Just enough alcohol to take away the inhibitions, but not so much as to make regrettable purchases.

I always assume a dial is "as is" when considering a watch for purchase. Repair/cleaning options are too chancy for my taste.
Very much agreed! I really liked the look of this, but convinced myself in the end that it would’ve been nearly impossible for even an experienced expert to give this dial an effective superficial cleaning—meaning, to only remove dirt and spots WITHOUT adding anything extra to the dial ie chems, paint, more spots/damage, etc.
But now I’m wondering if maybe there is an expert out there who could, in fact, effectively clean up a dial in this state without repainting/refinishing???
Thanks for the link, but not sure the relevance?
Where do you fall on this one? I’ve been kicking myself since I passed on it. Then I look again and feel relieved. The pulsations bezel, although pretty beat up, still has a lot of appeal to me. It sold for about $14k if I recall. Your thoughts—too far gone or hey dummy you shoulda bought it?

That one is a very rare references, I guess that is in the bottom of the spectrum with condition, but I myself would have to see it in person. Cleaned up a bit might be fine for my old vintage taste. Any pictures of dial without crystal ? Crystal can sometimes be causing dial to look more patina ? $14k plus premium ? Definitely got to love that one to pay that price. Chances are your never going to get a mint one ?
