Just one short Question,
what is the size of a "Jumbo" ?

The seller say 35,5mm for this one.

Thx in advance

Not having a micrometer I’m not sure of the actual size - it’s about 35mm ish.
They wear bigger because of the case design - less bezel/more dial on show.
As I said this is the .004 and it does look larger than other Connies but the .010 looks (even) bigger because the lugs are at 19mm as opposed to 18mm.
The eBay watch has the wrong sized strap fitted.
A true jumbo is bigger again.

Love the idea of this topic 👍
Being at work i haven't got any specific bargains at hand to show, but in general I was surprised in the whole of December how many bargains there were on eBay. I'm a constant scanner of the Bay, for a long-long time, but can't recall such a large number of really nice watches ending at such miserable (from seller's aspect) sums. I know December is usually a poor month in terms of sales, but even the years before have been way stronger.. maybe this is the time to start hoarding..? 👎 Too bad i'm already a member of the "should be selling rather then buying" club.. ::facepalm1::

The 168.001 for the Japanese market was 37mm. I’m not aware of any larger vintage Connies.
1477 connie also 37mm i think

Assuming this is your 168.001, let me know if you ever want to part ways with it. I'm bummed I missed out on the one for sale last October.

A while since I posted anything here, this IMO is really good for a lovely example of the Hamilton GS fully serviced with 2 year guarantee.

https://www.austinkaye.co.uk/vintag...military-steel-manual-watch-collectable?back=

Priced at £995. Been at that price for a couple of weeks now, thought it would have sold by now.

It has spring bars but I'm pretty sure some of these originally did come that way
Now Sold! Got the feeling your bump helped it!

I guess must have. That was a really nice buy IMO, about the price i'd expect buying private with no service history.

The GS seems to have spring bars which might partially explain the price. Still a great deal I’d have thought, and rather better condition than the one I recently bought 😁. Were there movement shots included ? Quite a few, including my ‘thing’, have replacement ETAs rather than the correct Hamilton S75S.

Regarding spring bars, I did mention that in my post but does kind of get lost between the photos. I'm pretty sure this particular watch is one that came with both fixed bars aswell as a spring bar model(I'll see if I can find where I read it, probably on MWR), so not necessarily a conversion.

[EDIT]Here's one mention of it... https://www.mwrforum.net/forums/sho...d-input-on-authenticating-a-70-s-Hamilton-G-S

See reply #7 from Rodabod who is a very knowledgeable guy over there so I trust his judgement.

"Looks ok to me. Ask if the dust cover is included as suggested. And yes, some G.S models had spring bars as standard."

🤦

I even went back to check you hadn’t mentioned the spring bars... my excuse is it’s too early and I haven’t had coffee yet. Any idea where to try and find hands and a correct S75S ?
