I don't think it was ever serviced. The case is beat to a pulp, but it has all original parts and the case back gasket melted into the keyless works. The pushers has so much crud in them you couldn't actuate the chronograph zero function.

Just received this back from service at STS in Essex, where it's been serviced, cleaned (but not polished at my request - thought this worth saying in light of the recent Oris thread!) and had a new crystal. Couldn't be happier with STS's service - this is the first time I've sent in an Omega to the group (having previously used them for my Maurice Lacroix watches), and I now intend to send my Mark III in (but this time to see how they do refinishing the case, which is slightly flat on one side, I suspect after having a major dent polished out at some point). After spending a frustrating part of last year doing a dance with someone who promised to service the Mark II and then just ghosted me whilst apparently undertaking other work, it's nice to have the watch working properly and guaranteed for two years.

This is great thread.
Speedy Marks are poor stepsons of Speedmaster. Attract less attention compare to the famous Speedy Moonwatches.
I love Speedy Marks due to its quirkiness. Unusual cases, 70's style, so many variation......

Unlike moonwatches, price wise is still flat thus more "affordable" for collecting........

So, an interesting observation: last night, I joined a local gathering of watch collectors in Hong Kong. Many seriously expensive pieces in the house, including Langes, Nautilii, FP Journes, etc. A few Omegas, but many more Rolexes of course. Not that many vintage watches, but some. I brought several pieces myself, including a tropical dial 2998-2, which won some lovely compliments. But the piece in my collection that got the most attention, and attracted the most interest was ... the racing dial MK II. Go figure.

Goodness, this is a very visually appealing thread - I have been fascinated by that entire 70s line for a while now, and have managed to find a few to add to the collection. The 176 TV dials are next!

Mk ii just acquired

on the subject of sunburst cases, is it just me, or do these seem very 'soft' and susceptible to scratches...

This is my birth year Mark II.
It was refinished at some point, but the rest, bar the crystal, are all original, with the clasp and 1162 bracelet.

Here it is on a Forstner 1450, with custom end links and a 1499 clasp cover.

I love the way the dial has faded to such a uniform colour, like lunar regolith.

First Omega Designed for Space (FODfS)!

Here is my mark II, to join in the mark II love fest 馃檮

I bought from a guy here in UK, it was his father-in-law's watch, but had sat in a drawer for about 20 years (or so the story goes!). The chrono didn't reset properly and the hands kept sticking so, off to Simon Freese it went. It is now 馃憤 spot on!

The case is quite beaten and, although it has the original 1162 bracelet, the clasp was lose and useless. I have replaced with a new generic clasp, but like what @Ascalon has done with his clasp, so may look to do something like that. I like that the watch is well used, I've taken it camping and mountain biking, it has a very sturdy feel. A proper tool watch!

Cheers for the comment, @ken_hodson

No magic, I have to admit.
I liked the look of the Z33 end links, and so found a generic unbranded bracelet with the same pattern. The 1499 clasp was picked up on eBay for not much, and fortunately, it fits the Forstner 1450 fold-over bit of the clasp.
It all hangs together rather well.
