To each their own, I certainly don’t consider the OPs watch NOS, still exceptional example, and would wear it for enjoyment.

My Flightmaster in the other hand is a different story 🙁

Quite clear that the case has been polished ? Sorry but I don't agree with you.
If I look at the edges between polished and brushed facets I just see tiny dings. The case would not be so sharp after a polish.
For Christ sake - just Look with you own eyes

This is just 1 lug - over 8 nicks, that were deeper, but this watch has been polished down

It’s lovely and about as good as they get- it’s been polished. Upper left lug has nicks that were smoothed down on the vertical surface, it’s pretty clear. Whoever did the polish did it exceptionally well I think.
And c’mon guys, if a watch had been serviced anytime before the last 15 years, it most likely got polished. Some watchmakers just had a far more delicate touch than others.

Wear it regularly, just avoid heavy construction.

Don’t have to be this blunt about it. You picked out some very minor nicks but missed the biggest tell.
Regardless of the polishing, it’s a very nice example. As other have said, I’d wear it!

This whole polished not polished stuff is getting absurd- it’s a 50 year old watch, it’s had a gentle life, obviously didn’t see much wear. It went for service at some point (as I hope any watch that gets worn does), the watchmaker was gentle and did their job at cleaning it up.
Both my Speedy and GMT have been polished, more than once. It doesn’t make them any less excellent examples IMO that I have worn the shit out of.

I think that people are being extremely supportive and kind about the OP's watch (and gentle in their corrections), despite the exaggerated claims about it being unpolished and nearly NOS. If he had left it at "The best 145.012 I have ever seen", I don't think anyone would have even blinked, since it's really a very fine example that he should be proud to own.

Yes, the polished/unpolished stuff is getting absurd, but if owners and sellers didn't make those claims, nobody would feel the need to correct them. And that would be a much improved situation for the collecting community IMO.

I fret when I see such proclamations, I chalk it up to exuberance.

I have plenty of polished watches that I cherish and enjoy wearing, doesn’t bother me one bit. The edges on this watch are clearly round, indicative of a light polish.

More reason to wear it now ;-)

Here is my nicest twisted lug cal. 321 speedmaster. Comes with the original bracelet and am pretty sure it has not been polished.

It is a beautiful watch, and since it's been polished just a little then maybe you can wear it and not feel bad about fixing new issues? Or create your own new marks until it looks like a watch with history again?

My 145.022-74 has a few marks on it that lend it that vintage vibe (along with dial and hand patina), and other times I prefer to grab my new Speedy and wear it all nice and shiny. Sounds like you have plenty for that vintage vibe, and this one for that shiny vibe. Enjoy it!
