In the motto section underneath the blue circle, it says "We Checked" 😄

Great! Thats settled then.

Good humor from the astronauts.

My 8 year old daughter out of the blue asked me the other day that she wanted to go to the plane museum, very out of character and took me by suprise, so I obliged.
Our son is in the air force cadets and also in " The Young Eagles" program, a civil aviation initiative for those interested in flying careers but I don't think that prompted it.

Thanks for sharing. I'm assuming this is the RNZAF museum in Christchurch? The exhibits look really good. Wonder if there's an A-4 Skyhawk as well? I remember seeing them perform at the Australian International Air Show many years ago. As you probably already know, sadly, the RNZAF no longer operates any fast jets.

Yep there is a Skyhawk in one of the other display halls along with a couple of other jets.
Yes the NZ Govt of the day crazily disbanded the combat wing of the RNZAF, even at the time there was a huge uproar. Fast forward to today and you can view that decision with as then open disbelief given the state of world politics, at one point if I remember correctly there had been talk of upgrading the strike potential with F16's but the accountants of the day " Won Out" so they just tossed the whole combat wing out as it was too expensive to maintain.
Admittedly with a country population of only 5 and a half million it does add cost but what you can't defend you will loose to those who want to take it. Many other small countries have much better resourced and equipped armed forces but NZ has very shortsightedly relied on it's geographic isolation but with many emerging powers now having large modern navies that point of view seems absurd.

Amusing and reasonably accurate description of an ejection system from the period.

I liked "this diagram is definitely not to be used for maintenance purposes".

It's possible.
The pilot mishandled the aircraft and placed it in an unrecoverable ejection situation.
Had he been a better pilot, he could have recovered and obviated the need for the ejection.

PS: You may have twigged I'm not a fan of cowboy pilots.

We all have triggers. For me it’s fat guys who wear flip flops that look like they belong to 15 year old girls.

"There was no way that Lieutenant Mitchell could either see or avoid the jet wash which produced the engine stall. Therefore the Board of Inquiry finds that Lieutenant Pete Mitchell was not at fault in the accident of 29th July. Lieutenant Mitchell's record will be cleared of this incident. Lieutenant Mitchell is restored to flight status without further delay. These proceedings are closed"
