I've worn an Apple Watch 4 for several years, but only when I sleep as I track my sleep with AutoSleep. There's a sister program called AutoWake which is (obviously) and alarm but it has many options including sleep goals and waking only when in light sleep. With exception that the wake program disconnects from the phone's health data on a regular basis (there's an algorithm to restore, but it's not trivial) it works incredibly well.
One thing I've learned is that I think I've been awake for hours, but actually only woke several times in the period, getting much more sleep than I thought.
I haven't tried Apple's sleep tracker as mine has everything I need.
If it broke, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.
