The 2019 Gold Speedmaster Apollo XI vs The 1969 Speedmaster Apollo XI

Thank you RJ for your great writeup! Having read your article I am wondering about one point which has not been discussed: The size of the pushers. While the BA 145.022 has pushers of Type 4 „Wide & Tall“ according to MWO the size of the pushers of the 2019 Gold Speedmaster Apollo XI appears to be more like the size of the pushers on reference 105.012 (Type 3. „Wide & Short“ according to MWO). The reference 105.012 has been in production between 1964 and 1968, that is before the production of the BA145.022 between 1969 and 1973. Did OMEGA elaborate on this difference of the pushers and the reason for not reproducing pushers of the same size as the BA145.022 during their product presentation in Bienne?

Great article Robert, thank you. A very fine watch indeed. One thing though that I believe was not discussed here is the buckle. While narrower, it looks as thick as the buckle made for the 57 trilogy. Do you confirm please?

I would say it is a bit thinner. Let me see if I can make a side-by-side shot in the coming days.

I heard that Omega is having an event in Zurich. I heard from an OB manager and the rumor has it that 2 models will be announced soon. Maybe not today though

The event in Zurich is only for retailers and nothing will be announced during this event. The event for press will be in May.

Hi, there wasn't really a product presentation in Bienne. It was just me ;-) That said, the pushers are indeed more like the ones on the 105.012. Let me see if I can find out if there's a deeper thought behind this.

The new ceramic bezel looks amazing... and probably fits better as ceramic material to the Gold case.
(Was the fact of the frequent lost bezels on these Gold Speedies not related to the fit between Aluminium & Gold ?)

Edit
: R-J ordered in such a way to have at least matching numbers I suppose 👎

Correct.

Oh, there will be new models for sure, I am just saying that the thing in Zurich is only for retailers and not meant to introduce new models to the world (yet).

Agreed. Based on my information the models were presented to the retailers so they already know what is in the pipeline. Consumers and press will know later. There are plenty new models on the horizon, some LE and of course non-LE.

Wow, for an 18K solid gold watch that's an impressive turnaround time if true, no Baselworld required.

The moonshine gold looks a bit too pale for me, and I never really liked the way the ceramic bezels look on a Speedy. Original one is the way to go
