I got the movement at 4:30 today.

It is already apart here at 8PM.

Busted mainspring.

Someone broke the sweep pinion and spring. Probably attempting to smash a hand onto it. I have a whole bunch of 470 pinions. Data sheet says pinion is base caliber 610 variant.

Still amazed I got this for 13.50 plus 5 for S&H. Probably due to poor auction photos and the 613 a lesser known variation. The missing parts will probably run 5 times that.

Like most of the others I do not have a case, dial or hands for it. Part of the quickset is missing/broken. Train seems to be complete, including a good balance.

I could swap the common parts into one of the 56x movements, but I do not have rotors for them, so It might make more sense to swap the quickset parts into this one. Would need to get a manual wind mainspring though. All the ones I have and the extra barrels are for automatic. There are differences in the bridle attachments. I probably could borrow one for testing. There is something mesmerizing when these things start ticking again.

Sill waiting for courage to attempt pallet fork voodoo. Fire majik is not something I do not have much experience with.

Ah pallet fork voodoo.......the correct method involves consulting the entrails of a chicken, under a full moon on a Tuesday at exactly 12:01:59AM, and a virgin sacrifice is said to be helpful, but good luck finding one of those!

Virgin chicken? But then whence the egg come from?

I put the calendar mechanism in the 561 that I cobbled together and has been ticking for a while. That should give me an idea of when to sacrifice the next virgin watch part. However I do not think any of these parts are virgin. Although it is nice to get a movement and parts with no rust on them.
