I'd be careful, there's enough DNA on that watch to clone the grandfather, who may just want it back.

Mods, please add this to the reply-of-the-year nominees... 馃榿

Nice! Actually, just ordered one of those 4-piece 'seconds' specials from Mickie on the bay. Very excited to get them and try them on any day now. Every time lately a 'NATO' has caught my eye on someone's watch pic, it's been a Phoenix. 馃榾

I must learn the ways of watchknut. If only so bitterness and jealousy dont lead me to the dark side.

Watchknut, I will find you and kill you.

You utter, utter bastard.

Seriously? I hate you Matt.

You all do realize that Matt found the owner right here.

Anyone of us could have contacted the owner. Matt did.

As my dad told me when I was a young buck and going on my first date, "you won't get it if you don't ask for it" 馃憤

Those words never rang truer...

How hard do you think it will be to source a bezel replacement - and do you think you even need/want to?

Other members can speak more their experiences with Aldo, but I am leaning on leaving the watch "As-Is". Will probably get serviced and keep it all original..even the crazed and discolored crystal. It is a true survivor, and seeing that the original owner wore this as the highest ranking general in the FAP speaks volumes to the watch in its current configuration.

Couldn't agree more keeping it original with a mil piece with provenance like this one is the only way to go.

Hmm... I'm a Phoenix man myself. But wait till you see this circa 1945 World War II 'NATO' strap made for the US Marine Corps... they simply don't make them like they used to...
