This is why I am a terrible collector. I would want to wear that watch every day, and find some way to wear the box.

Amazing! Congratulations !

Oh my God... I'm speechless. Other than Congratulations sir.

You have some kind of Speedmaster mojo that nobody else seems to have. Is it too much to ask that you give us the story on how this acquisition came together, how far and wide did you have to search. WE NEED THE BACK STORY!

Stunning in these pictures...

Indescribably beautiful, I'm sure in the actual gold-flesh!🥰 Thank you for sharing, and I, too, look forward to the wrist-shot...🤪

No great mystery really. It had been on Chrono 24 (of all places) for quite some time. The pictures of the watch were OK but not fantastic and they hardly made any deal about the box which I think most people could have overlooked. After constantly visiting the sight for a number of months I decided to make an offer which was immediately counter offered. I waited for a bit and went back with my thoughts and then all went quiet for a few days, I reignited the conversation after a couple of days and as they say the rest is history😀

Was this the watch that Richard Nixon didn't accept from Omega? No wonder it's so prisine, Barking Mad lifted this from a museum.

Congratulations. The watch is really fantastic! And the boys adds some more desirability!
There's only one bad thing about it - now you have this grail - the hunt is over.... and isn't it all about hunting?

Thank you. Not really a bad thing as I don't know if I would call this my grail. I don't think that I would sell my 2998-2 before I sold this one (don't want to sell either) and still plenty more I would like e.g. 2998-1, 2998-3, 2998-62...........

Guess that is why my tag is Barking Mad😀

Ahhhh, hiding in plain sight! Well, If it isn't me who gets to own it, I'd say it probably has about the best home a Speedy like this could ever ask for. Enjoy my friend, and please post up from time to time on the WRUW thread with this beauty. The rest of us need our fix.

Wow. That whole package is beautiful. The burgundy bezel was a great call by the designers and makes a huge difference.

Congratulations.

I am absolutely stunned!!!
Almost expecting the next thing you do is fish Buzz Aldrin's lost Speedy out from somewhere.....
With Velcro, moon-dust and all...
I'm moonstruck!!!
😀👍
