Swiss Made

Hello good people,

I recently got this Seamaster, which I like, but I've decided to get a black Constellation instead

I've found some really interesting tips and info on this forum but one thing I'm wondering about is the "Swiss Made" text. On some it just says Swiss, on others nothing at all ad I've even seen ones where the s in swiss and m in made are covered by the 6 o'clock marker. Also, on mine Swiss and Made are very tight together. Does anyone know what the rules are of all this, if there are any, or what to look out for? If there's already a thread with info like this I'd appreciate it if someone can link it for me here... In any case, great and interesting forum!

The only rule is that there are no rules.

Hmmm, well that rather complicates things then. But thanks!

There are some rules
Rule No1
Black dial Connies are a minefield and should be presumed redialled unless proven authentic.
Rule No2
If a Connie doesn’t say SWISS MADE it’s either hidden under an incorrect crystal ring or it’s a redial.
Rule No3
The positioning of SWISS MADE depends on dial type and indices type.

hope that helps

you're welcome

I should have added if you look at the (many) pages of the show and tell constellation thread - you will find pretty much every variation and I can’t recall any redials in there ( but there might be one or two)
You can then see all the variations in constellation dial layouts

Best advice I could give is settle on a particular Constellation reference and research that until it is second nature to you.

Thanks for the link and solid advice! Yes, I'm fairly sure of exactly what I want (how non committal was that, hahaha) so I'll do just that. It's just that sometimes you come across something that tempts...
