·Hi all. Just purchased this 1969 18k Seamaster Ref. 166.001. Lovely patina and nice lettering.
However the ‘Swiss made’ lettering is, on close inspection half cut off. I suspect this is because the non original Omega PX5011 plexiglass crystal is not right for the watch and so chunky that it is actually blocking the text on the dial. When looked at from the side this crystal really protrudes in a way that I’m not sure about.
Any thoughts on this guys? What is the correct plexiglass for this reference, and is it worth me taking to a watchmakers to get this replaced? Or is this simply a case of bad redial? The lettering looks correct with fine serifs to me. Pics here. Thanks so much to you all.
