Summer blue SMP or standard blue SMP?

I found that the SMP 75th dial is quite different than the PO 75th. They both are darker at the edge of the dial, but the SMP color does not change when you move the watch, whereas the PO changes color quite dramatically depending on the angle of light.

The SMP 75th can flash between light intense blues to darker tones definitely but agree, the "color change" isn't at all the same. None of these dials are exactly identical in how they handle their tone changes, which is really cool.

The dial is super hard to photograph, so even the good photos I've seen don't show how the dial transitions. They just catch it in a static position during transition...

I bet both @Sauzo and @RayM55 would say something similar about their Planet ocean dials.
Exactly. Trying to photograph the colour transitions was (for me) was near impossible. I posted a couple of pics in another thread trying to show the differences with not much success. Whatever I tried didn't do the dial justice.

Try recording it, seems difficult to capture that way as well (even with video quality turned way up), but maybe you'll have luck. There are a couple of transitional tone/lighting effects I keep trying to capture on the heritage dial without much success (although it's not nearly as severe as the changes the PO dial shows.

They do a fabulous job of transitioning the blue from light to dark as the depth for the watch gets deeper.

The ultra deep loom is hilarious to me...

Thr summer blue I'd very tempting, but in most pics I see it looks like it gets really light in the center, or is that just a product of the photos?

Most pics, or most of Omegas pics? Omega intentionally let the center of the dial somehow in much of the advertising photos, it doesn't really look like that irl.

Some images you can peruse:

I'm not seeing many person pics, so I'm sure it's mostly omega...

But even this one makes it look light in center.

@KingCobb take a look at my edit (above). It is lighter in the center, it's a gradient dial, but how much that effects the dial depends upon the angle and lighting.

I prefer the standard blue to the summer blue, do not like the color of the numbers in the bezel (light blue), just that.
but I pick this one:

To me, the 75th doesn’t seem to photograph that great. It’s a watch you got to see in person. I really didn’t plan on getting my PO 75th but once I saw it, I was in love. I wear it more than my 321. It’s a big chunk of watch that feels like it can take anything. Plus I love the engraved case back. I also like the PO bracelet much better than the SMP bracelet. Just wish Omega did a blue rubber in 19mm for it.
I did put the SMP 75th next to it as that was a contender too but it doesn’t seem to play with the light as much as the PO. Plus for me, 39-40mm is my sweet spot.

I’m on the fence about pulling the trigger on the PO75 but really close to grabbing one.

On the one hand, I’m interested to see if there’s a refresh of the PO soon. But I imagine even if there is, the summer blue won’t carry over? I don’t think I would sell it, but I always have value retention in the back of my mind. Thoughts?

I value the enjoyment I would get over the resale value. I remember when pretty much all watches lost value after you put them on. Then they became “investments” and watch collecting went to hell. I say try it on and see if it speaks to you. Like I said, I didn’t plan on picking up my PO75 when my OB texted me but after trying it on, I was hooked and now I actually reach for it over my 321 which I wore at least 5 days a week.

Investment value means nothing to me. I buy because I like it. I’m of an age where if I was to buy a watch now I probably wouldnt see its first service. 😀
I’ll pass my small collection down then that will be someone elses worry.

Thanks for all the replies. Ended up going with a brand new 210.32.42.20.03.001 on the strap for less then 4500.

I know everyone says buy the bracelet and then the strap, but I have a bracelet that's sized already and I don't have the blue strap so...

Interesting comparison. My green one runs +1.6 seconds a day according to the report. My blue one runs +3.6.

Both are better than my squale which was gaining like 5 minutes a day at night.
