Ha! These are currently my son's favorite books: the knowledge Encyclopedia Dinosaur! And Savage's Mammal Evolution: an illustrated guide (with your favorite Megatherium pictured!)

My son is much, much more interested in Smilodon then Megatherium right now, but he's less, much less interested in the Cenozoic than he is the Mesozoic.

You should check out Andrewsarchus and Thylacosmilus! They give Megatherium a run for its money when it comes to extinct megafauna.

Oh my, the thread drift we could have. I loved paleontology as a kid, and now I'm deep in it again with my 5-year-old. We've been volunteering at a dino dig site and he's got a big collection of books on extinct mammals. But he's really partial to the big birds in that time period like Titanis.

I'm thinking of starting to collect fossils, with him, but haven't pulled the trigger on anything fancy yet.

Sorry for the thread drift. I think my real response for the OP would be a Sinn EZM mission timer. They have lots of options and I think the are very handsome tool watches, some with tegimented or other coatings that keep them looking sharp if you're doing work that is likely to scratch a normal watch.

Edit: d'oh, OP wants an Omega. I think a Planet Ocean or an X-33 would would be great for this situation.

Ive actually wondered at times if its worth adding another sales section for general luxury goods, anything from ties to hats to handbags to fountain pens as there’s a lot of varied interests.

This would actually be.... really great. I've got some early Signet 007 books I've considered selling, and I guarantee there's someone on this forum who might be interested. Other people here probably trade hat and footwear on other sites. reddit's goodyearwelt you can trade all sorts of boots... that's an interesting idea.
EDIT: I'm not trying to solicit a buyer of the 007 books. Apologies.

Would you mind PMing me some of the titles? Most of my books on mammal evolution are fairly... technical textbooks. My 6 year old isn't quite ready, and I'd love to have some ideas- we're deep in it, too! Awesome that you're volunteering at a dig!

Season one, yes.

Those are pretty sharp. I don't know much about Greely hats, but I appreciate a well built fur felt hat regardless of its shape.

Definitely one of omega's best modern dials, the 12 6 9 font is taken directly from the big triangle Seamaster (or based directly on it), right? I kinda see that as a retro cue, but there is no mistaking the modernity of the rest of the piece.
Take a second look at the bezel 😉

I have received a number of watch suggestions that would fit the bill. Normal attire for me is jeans, boots, a custom built cowboy hat and a Glock. The dynamic III that Ash suggested probably fits me personally and my budget for a durable watch. I like that it is under 40mm and it is thinner. Both pluses for me. Others suggested are gorgeous, but on the higher price side of things. I’ve got time….the right one will pop up and I’ll know it when I see it. Thanks again.
Be aware there are 3 variants of the Dynamic III, the chrono, the regular, and the somewhat rare broad arrow version that ties back to WWII/post WWII UK MOD watches. If you want a military tie in the broad arrows exist if you look hard enough normally with no added markup. The chronograph version does have a markup due to the more complex movement.

Pretty sure NASA had a similar request….😗

Well, yes and no. Yes, NASA had a tough torture test for conditions the astronaut's watch might encounter in space. But they did not specify any water resistance or weather resistance. Given Gus Grissom's unscheduled swim after splashdown, as well as how much the Speedmaster is worn during training on earth, maybe some degree of water resistance would have been a good idea.

I guess it's personal taste, but as a vintage enthusiast, I don't really see those Dynamic models as particularly appealing or distinctively Omega. You might as well buy a Hamilton Khaki.

Definitely a different look. Wants and function are two different things. If I want to stay purely functional, my Apple Watch receives CAD texts with maps to calls that can be particularly useful. But it is a smart watch with no style…

It has a much more modern bezel pip and font, and lacks the triangle "pip" marker, if that's what I'm supposed to be seeing.

Quick look at eBay and these Broad Arrow Dynamic IIIs are anything but cheap. Gonna have to settle in for something else…but they are sharp for sure.
Interesting, that's a lot more expensive than the Dynamics I've seen, but the British military pheon/broad arrow may play a factor. I've seen regular Dynamics with arabic numeral dials go for sub 800 on ebay- but now looking at chrono24 (just to see prices) and they're a bit wild. If I were going to drop 3-4k on an Omega, I'd be looking at 2254s, Speedies, or a 145.016 or other C-case like this one below (these are super cool, very attractive, and very vintage. Image from @Scarecrow Boat's FS thread from a while back- part of me wishes I'd bought this!)

If it's for work purposes I would only opt for a Speedie or a Seamaster professional, all the rest are just fluff when it comes to work watches however we're it a desk jockey job a Constellation might be appropriate.

The bezel banding is remenicient of the inner stainless, outer bakelight rings on the 300 bezel.

Indeed. I guess I hadn't really thought about that much because the Heritage seamasters I have are like this and I really like the inner steel ring. That particular 2500 PO is just fantastic.

Those are probably highly marked up Japanese resellers who list watches on eBay they don't own for high prices. Once they "sell" the watch on eBay they buy it from a Japanese language only site and ship it on.

I am sure @Foo2rama knows this, my response is more to @CBM1590

Its just that one dial that’s expensive the others like this are really cheap:

Ploprof.

You can use it when you misplace your nightstick and someone is in dire need of a wood shampoo 😎
