Not me. Although last year I did put my stapler on the left of my work table instead of the right. Was really a highlight.

Did you also burn down the building when they took the stapler from you?

Sometimes it's the small steps of getting out of one's comfort zone that are important. 😉

Mid 70’s Speedmaster or a 42mm 1st Gen planet Ocean 2500. Pic below of the planet ocean.

those 2500 are rugged and classically good looking without having fake retro cues. While 42mm they wear small for planet oceans.

Definitely one of omega's best modern dials, the 12 6 9 font is taken directly from the big triangle Seamaster (or based directly on it), right? I kinda see that as a retro cue, but there is no mistaking the modernity of the rest of the piece.

In addition to budget, what are your personal criteria? This watch shouldn't just fit the role of "College Professor" or Police Officer- it should fit who CBM1590 is. We're recommending a variety of watches from almost new and neo-vintage to true vintage, most of which fit our personal tastes.
What size constraints do you have, specifically? 36-41mm case size? What's "too thick?"
What color dial speaks the most to you? What kinds of markers? What style hands?

The watches I choose to wear fit me first and whatever role I occupy second. Perhaps- you want a watch that also marks what seems to be a somewhat fundamental change to you. It still needs to be true to who CBM1590 (especially if we're talking one primary wearer) outside of the role you choose to take.

I am looking for something that will stand out a bit as a working man’s watch that will hold up day-in, day out in all situations and weather.

Pretty sure NASA had a similar request….😗

I have received a number of watch suggestions that would fit the bill. Normal attire for me is jeans, boots, a custom built cowboy hat and a Glock. The dynamic III that Ash suggested probably fits me personally and my budget for a durable watch. I like that it is under 40mm and it is thinner. Both pluses for me. Others suggested are gorgeous, but on the higher price side of things. I’ve got time….the right one will pop up and I’ll know it when I see it. Thanks again.

a custom built cowboy hat

Super cool. There is a hat maker here in the Pacific Northwest named John Penman (Penman hats). I've a great fedora from him and considered adding another. I don't know if there is a hat thread on this form anywhere but there probably should be, I know that there is a boot thread floating around somewhere.

What's the budget?

A cosmic or a beat up 120?
SM 120 is a good suggestion. A watch I actually like.

Of course there is. And there's a book thread, and there's even a video game thread. Now all we need is a thread on extinct mammals and homeothermy, and maybe a thread on growing super hot peppers, and I won't ever have to go anywhere else on the internet!

I'm down for one of these. Finally a place to discuss my love of megatherium!

Ha! These are currently my son's favorite books: the Knowledge Encyclopedia Dinosaur! and Savage's Mammal Evolution: an illustrated guide (with your favorite Megatherium pictured!).

My son is much, much more interested in Smilodon then Megatherium right now, but he's less, much less interested in the Cenozoic than he is the Mesozoic.

You should check out Andrewsarchus and Thylacosmilus! They give Megatherium a run for its money when it comes to cool extinct megafauna.

Ive actually wondered at times if its worth adding another sales section for general luxury goods, anything from ties to hats to handbags to fountain pens as there’s a lot of varied interests.
