Hi, I was offered a quite good 5513 incl. bracelet, papers and box and service-cards from the tritium-change---- but the watch was completely changed to superluminova. old parts are not included. Watch is from 1976. case looks good.

Should I generally stay away 😕 Too much franken? What would be a fair price? Below 7000?

Thanks for any comment!

Nothing Franken about this. If the case is not a 4.4m: why not go for it. The correct parts are not that hard to source. My valution would be: [value if back to original] -/- [cost for the correct parts] -/- 2k. You do the math ;-)

I agree. There are plenty of 5513's out there and with patience you can buy one that you love at a [sort of] rational price. Buying one that has been heavily modded with the thought that you will make it right can be problematic. Just as one example, I have been searching for a better dial for a certain Sub for 15 years without success. I just think that you will be happier in the long run and will have less stress if you deal with it up front.

not cheap: € 8000 offered 😡 but with ROLEX service-papers - 6.2 m series, ergo 79/80 (he/the jewelery wrote 1976)

OK , thank you, and good to know, but boxes for me are not important if I buy. Esp. ROLEX. Original papers yes. In his case, the service-papers confirm authenticy and "not stolen"
(I did not mention the box in my post above 😀) And also the paper-bill....

Well it's not a collector's piece but a nice wearers watch. For a watch recently serviced it looks to have had a bit of a life since then, scratched crystal maybe more but I'm looking on my phone. Is 8k euros his offer price to you or would you be paying 10k with tax? Also have you considered a 14060 which would have that type of dial, some with tritium, and have an extra 100m water resistance for maybe similar money. Anyway it's nice to be in a position to contemplate the options

I already have a nice black EX2 from ´97 with Tritium in a nice and cool "neon" - green. 😉 My daily rocker... This dial starts " cracking" and "stardusting" 😀 , I did not notice that before, when I bought the watch by C24. It´s OK for me - hard to see, and mentioned at rolexpassionreport. No alarm - bell for me.

I could offer 7k and probably he might agree at 7.5 (net, no tax, private sale); even with an inspection at a ROLEX -store nearby. This buy would be more an invest, but I (tritium addicted) always see a SL-dial.

credit suisse shares ? 😁 Not easy to wear on a wrist.

btw: after years I am actually reading (again) Mandelbrot: The (mis)behavior of markets. Rolex as invest is new to me - shares not.

No punch papers but other period correct items and previous comments about the box suggest someone is trying hard to present a full set by pulling individually sourced items together.
Plenty out there so spend your money wisely. Good luck.

I’d walk from the deal. You can pick up nice neo-vintage tritium dial 5513’s for under $10K USD these days. Everything that matters has been swapped on this watch.
