Here's @STANDY overloading his towbar whilst on the way to the new Hermes place. I believe he was hopeful of trading in this vintage salty for a couple of new straps and a handbag for Mrs.STANDY 😉

Not surprised by this. WB have complained to me over posts I have made on WUS that they saw as critical of them, but 100% truthful (related to long delays getting answers on the prices of parts). So this certainly fits with my experiences with them.

For the OP, note that there is a dealer in Canada (Calgary) who may be able to help you.

I don't know if they will ship into the US due to their agreements with Sinn, and WB having a monopoly there, but it might be worth a shot.

Cheers, Al

There has never been a watch I have wanted that hasn’t come up on the used market in short order. Even the super rare LE’s we see pop up eventually. The one watch I bought new I waited for 4 months to get- and since then I have seen a few LNIB pop up for around what I paid or a little less. Let’s not forget that 90% of the watches we all covet are mass produced- there is a sea of this shit out there, just be patient and ready to pounce when you see it. And the best part of buying a used watch is you can actually try it on without fear of reprisal.

I'd buy on the forums over buying from WB any day of the week. So many stories about those guys getting super butthurt over a pretty wide variety of customer service inquiries - and the fact that they're keeping tabs on the community and flagging accounts is hilariously immature at best.

This is what blows me away about this hobby/industry. It’s a consumer product, but the suppliers are acting as if they have the power! As long as shenanigans in the watch world continue as they have for the last 5-10 years, this kind of behavior (not just from WB) will continue. As soon as we go back to “normal” in terms of watches being a luxury item and not a commodity, the dealers will go back to coupons, walk-in discounts, stale champagne and hand jobs.

The watch world is a little upside-down right now. On another forum I frequent someone posted about getting a Rolex at list from a dealer a while back, and one of the R fanboys suggested that the buyer go purchase the best bottle of champagne he could find, and gift it to the dealer as a thank you. 🤨

Thanks for the recommendation, Al! I contacted Sinn HQ about the WBs experience and I'm waiting to hear back from them. I'll keep J. Vair in mind.

I don't think you'll get much satisfaction from Sinn HQ, WBs is their official US distributor and they are allowed to do business as they see fit per their contract with Sinn. WBs will sell to you at the official price on their terms I doubt you'll be able to do business with the Canadian dealer.

I think this is one of those times when you just have to move on.

Indeed. Oddly enough, I think I already moved on...I ordered the new white dial Seamaster this afternoon. Excited to get it on wrist.

Too funny! Pre-great recession, just replace Rolex with PAM.

So if I get a 5711 at list, do I buy them a car?

You can't really in the US...

I would contact Sinn Directly with this issue and pass it along. I am sure they will sort out WB for you.

This is what I would do. In fact when I had a problem with Retana, after a battery exploded and ruined my watch, I ended up contacting Swatch and things moved pretty quickly.

First they put me in contact with omega repairs and offered to look at my watch to see if they could repair my watch, which they could not do due to its age.

Anyway, after a bit of too-ing and frow-ing Retana offered a to pay 1100 euro towards a new watch on provision of a receipt. Hamilton announced the release of the psr limited edition the same week, so I went for that.

Talking to the proverbial organ grinder can get you a lot further than dealing with the monkey.

Here's the new arrival. That white dial is striking in person. Love it! Thanks to Rob and the team at Topper Jewelers for the excellent service.
