"Stop me! I’m about to commit a terrible sin!"

My afternoon musical choice also...

I beg to differ...

I immediately modded the modded watch a little more with a different band and case back:

But, the watch has disappeared somewhere on its way to me, maybe in US Customs. Seller sent it via what becomes USPS, which does nothing to assist getting stuff thru customs. When DHL brought a watch over from the Neatherlands, they called me twice regarding the customs declaration the shipper had mis-filled out. The package was only delayed a day. According to what I’ve read online, USPS contacts you by mail. Great.

Good news. The Lemania Speedymoon has reappeared!

Nice! Today I dropped off my 3572.50 for the white Italian dial mod, and my 3570.50 for the Mitsukoshi dial mod.

I feel obliged to tell you that although you’ll probably get your photos up first, I also have a red Alaska project chronometer second hand on its way to me. I ordered it before I saw your post suggesting it. It seemed an obvious step. The dial could use a little contrasting color.

It’s either going to really pull the dial and hands together or it’ll be too much, because the printing on the dial is sort of delicate and could easily be overwhelmed.

Yeah, I'll have watch back early to mid-week next week. My Silver Snoopy black strap with white stitching will be here in 2-3 weeks, which will complete the Paramedic Mod.

The Mitsukoshi mod will take longer since I'm getting the watch serviced. That watch turns 5 yr old this October, and I didn't want to have to remove the hands and dial for it's first service this fall or next year. Amazingly, the 3570.50 went 53.5 hours on a full wind without dying while I was away on a short trip 2 weeks ago, and it ran +3.7 sec/day during that time (laying in the dial-down position, as it was the last of the 6 positions that I was testing). i thought power reserve was supposed to be only 48 hours.

I also have an extra set of all 6 hands for both watches, in case the current ones wear out after a few services. But it turns out that my spare black set has full black hour/minute hands and not the Alaska Project hands with the white bases. If I ever decide that the red sweep is too much color (never) then I still have a couple of black sweep second hands with lume and one without lume.

I'm sad that my only black dial Speedy will be my 145.022-74 but I can't see myself getting another Speedy just for that reason alone.

I think I prefer the hands that belong to the Italian cream face over the Alaska hands, because the white at the base, to me, doesn’t ‘mesh’ with the cream background.

Oh, and I may put a blue Gemini 4 bezel on it. But, we’ll see.

I know the ‘but only have a couple of black face Speedys’ feeling.

You could always get one of those black moonphase Speedys like the one I posted on page two above. To me, these moonphase watches are comparatively inexpensive for what they are. (I paid a little over USD 3,500 for mine.) Other than the rings around the sub dials, I love mine.

And you can easily read it at night.

The ‘donor’ watch arrived today. It’s always interesting to see what a watch you’ve bought actually looks like when you unbox it.

In person, the hands look much better than even my photos show. But they clearly have been ‘touched up’. If you compare with my 145.022-74, below, you can see that, apart from the touch up, they are the correct hands. (On closer examination with a loop, it appears somebody tried to ‘seal’ in the lume by applying something like clear nail polish in the channel, particularly to the hour hand.)

Case has been lightly polished in the past, I’m gathering, but the lugs are still well defined.

But it’s not too bad at all. Only one service mark on the inside of the back cover.

Another watch that looks like it’s had few trips for service.

The serial number puts it near the start of the -69 run.

It started easily as I wound it and appears to keep good time. The chronograph functions properly and resets cleanly and smoothly with good alignment.

So far, I’m reasonably pleased. Of course, as has been established, it’s got a replacement bezel, a B2. The crystal has no Omega symbol, so that’s not right either.

The new to me 145.022-69 pre moon (on the right) with my long time 145.022-74 (left).

I’ll have it serviced and then see where I am.

I do admit that I’m less desperate to build an Italian military dialed watch as, due to knappo1307’s offer and my acceptance, I already have one now.

Of course, I’m looking forward to feed back and reactions.

Personally, I wouldn't mod that -69. Looks awesome as is. Buy something more modern and let someone enjoy this well loved vintage watch as is.

Okay, I’ve decided.

I’m not going to break apart the watch. It’s too nice. Maybe even a little chocolate in the dial.

But wait! There is an Omega logo on the crystal but it far off center. Is this right?

Looks like an A2, which would be correct for the watch, but sooo off center? Straight from above, this faint mark is roughly just below the bottom end of the 30 second marker on the running seconds sub-dial.

Feedback please. I’ve never seen the logo so far off center.

Anyway, yeah I’m keeping the watch the way it is. I’d say that to do otherwise would be to commit a crime against nature, but it’s technological history, not nature.

Maybe it would be a crime against my nature.

Most likely a fiver or scratch rather than a logo...they are pretty much always in the centre.

Funny enough, I am planning a similar mod, except with black dial and white hands 😀 Love the look of yours though - well done!
