I've kind of given up on owning a 2254.50 so I'm looking at other watch brands and found Steinhart. There doesn't seem to be too much on this forum.

The seem to make very nice watches for very reasonable prices. Almost too good to be true. Wondering...... what am I missing

They simply copy the design of other brands...

I owned a Debaufré Air Force for ten years. It was big at 44 mm but it was perfect for work. I bought it from Debaufré through nice people in Florida. It worked very well and the quality was excellent.

Although many of their watches looked like Rolex, Bell & Ross and IWC, my Air Force had it’s own shape (and a Bell & Ross dial). The lume did not work as well as my actual BR03.

Debaufré became Steinhart. I am not sure if it’s run by the same people. If so, you’ll be treated well. FFD7A7A3-122D-47B1-AF70-2E2C6F0EA3FB.jpeg I sold it to a former colleague and he is still loving it. I made the strap from a magazine pouch. I had the watch serviced before I sold it.

Too much homage for me. I can't get myself to wear one even as a beater. Quality isn't bad but I would rather wear a Seiko.

I've serviced some and they are of good quality. Typically use ETA/Sellita movements.

I don't really think you are missing anything.

I really wish they would produce some models that aren't direct copies of Rolex. I mean even if it were to just switch to sword hands or something I'd be more interested, just to differentiate a bit from the originals. Basically I can't stand the prevalence of Mercedes hands on homage watches.

Interesting! I had not seen this one before - good for them for branching out. It's not exactly my taste, but I do think it is better than endless homages.

They have a good GMT at a sub $1,000 price point.

I always liked them. Yes they might look familiar but then again nowadays that can be said of lots of brands. The quality is there on them for sure and the price is good.

All of the above. But there will always be some in these circles that dismiss them as outright Rolex fakes. Difference is that they have proven ETA movements, far better build quality and they’re sold with a warranty. My GMT 39 ceramic…

There have been many debates re: “Should we even be talking about them here?” My view is they make well priced, good tool watches with solid build quality and Swiss movements. Just went to their website and they have more designs than the Rolex homage collection. They are not some fly by night fake watch company. I contrast the venom directed at them in past discussions with the Ooooh’s and Ahhhhh’s over the Simon Freese Watches.

    Thanks everyone.
I would never wear a Rolex, but do like prices of the Steinhart. If Archer says they good quality, thats what I hoped to hear.
I've been here a while and learned a lot from you guys. Thank you !

I have owned an Ocean 500 Titanium for 5+years. ETA 2892 movement. +2 seconds a day and rock solid. Very satisfied with the value if not the originality.

Why? ::confused2:: Because "some other strange guys" wear (golden) ones?

Rolex, to me, is simply not worth the huge premium they charge. Other watches offer better value and I am happy to wear these watches.

@Ravineman: OK, but I buy only vintage/second hand watches (and cars). Would never buy new ones - burnt money - no "charme".
I own vintage Omegas, but wanted a real waterproof watch. My Connie and my SM 300 from ´68 don´t offer these required facts, so I bought after a long search a Tritium-EX 2 from ´96. Quality, design (size!) and accuracy are outstanding.
In summa: I don´t need any other watch.
