Steel clasp on titanium bracelet

I have this old Seamaster chrono in titanium that I bought without box or papers. The funny thing is that the clasp and the first link on each side is in stainless steel. The watch is from 99 and was only used a few years before the original owner put it in a drawer until now so it has probably not been served.

does anybody know why the clasp would be steel? Is the logical answer just that the original one got damaged at one point and this was cheaper to replace it with?

Looks like it's been replaced to me - might be the pic but I clearly see a difference in finish between the main bracelet and the clasp/end links. That doesn't look right to me.

Titanium parts are more expensive. They cheaped out on the replacement

Thanks for the answers! Yes it has probably just been replaced at some point with the cheaper steel clasp. Luckily it’s the clasp and the links at each side so it actually looks good 😀

Would you help me guess the value of it in today’s marked? Watch only. Looks good and all original other than clasp.

Here is a basic idea. I'm guessing you have a 2298.80. You're missing the clasp.
