In all seriousness though, it's great to see the Speedy as always and the show itself really isn't half bad!
After rewatching some of those Selleck episodes, what struck me is how much sex there was... every episode, Magnum got laid. I was young and stupid back then and thought that was the way to behave.
Some nice young ladies taught me otherwise, thank goodness.
IIRC Donald Bellisario, who created the show, once referred to the original Magnum as a sort of "Bond pastiche" or having ended up becoming one - something to that effect. From a 1980s Hollywood standpoint, it sorta makes sense, but in retrospect definitely even more a fantasy character than merely a fantastical one.
So, the watches in the reboot are as cool as the original. But what about the short shorts? Did they also get the short shorts right?
While Magnun (reboot) might be wearing his father's Rolex, Rick wears a Speedmaster! Actor is Zachary Knighton, who is left-handed and wears his Speedmaster on his right wrist.
Unknown whether it's his personal watch.
I was watching episode 2 of the 3rd season yesterday, and Rick's watch seems to be a PO chrono to me... it has a HEV and a coin-edged bezel.
The bracelet is flat and seems to have the polished accents of the 5-pieece Speedy bracelet though... the lugs look suspicious too.
I'm seeing Speedmaster. Sorry I couldn't get a better shot. CBS does something that prevents a person from doing a screen capture.
I'll try taking a pic of the 4K TV with the phone, that might do it!
