I hadn't heard about mine so I sent an email to the OB and Omega yesterday. The OB wrote me back and said they have it but did not reach out to me because they knew I was out of the country. Not sure how I was supposed to know in order to make arrangements for paying and/ or pick-up. But I should be able to pick it up in person late next week.

Now you’ve both!! Please give your opinion on these as which one is a better classic watch in future?

That’s easy. Both of them! 👍

I believe my question stands as it was. I agree both are quite unique and desirable indeed, but if there is scope for one only between these two, which one will you choose and why?
Regards

In my opinion, the original Speedy Tuesday is more of an all-time classic design, while the Ultraman is immediately visually arresting in a way that the original isn't quite. It took me a few days to really get acquainted with the ST (though a nasty heat wave might have dampened my enthusiasm some) but now it feels like a watch I've owned forever. The Ultraman is immediate fun but I don't think it has the same longevity of design that the ST does

There will be only one ‘original’ ST, which I think hit it out of the park. ST2 is way too flashy and gimmicky for my taste.

Difficult to say which is going to be a “classic watch” in the future as you put it. I think both will be collectible in future, well actually they’re both collectible now by the fact there are only going to be 2012 of either.

For sure Ultraman is a bit more gimmicky but the packaging is a work of art. I was looking at what came with ST1 and it’s a poor second to the Ultraman. But looking at the watch #1 I think is the more standout piece and recognisable from a distance.

Right now I much prefer the original ST

I think if you read the above comments and liken them to the Snoopy EOTS and SA it's kinda contradiction.....

Sorry for the dumb question are you referring to Snoopy Eyes on the Stars and Snoopy Silver Award here? And that the latter has appreciated more than the former?

Yes, that's correct. Also the fact that the Silver Award is also "gimmicky" IMO
and my experience, as I have all 4. Not a boast but so you know that I'm speaking from personal experience as well as facts. All 4 are great pieces though

Try to see one in the flesh, they look far more subdued and elegant in real life.

You’re ahead of me by one 😉 I don’t have the first one.

I guess the marketing and pr was just so much better with SA and it captured everyone’s imagination. Either that or the white dial does it

I personally find it a bit irritating with the continual comparing of the two. They are classics in their own right and no doubt will be highly sought after once the Chrono24, eBay flippin frenzies have died down. The Ultraman ST2 isn’t gimmicky, it’s a serious LE timepiece that will help define Omega watchmaking history just as much as any other watch. The ST1 is maybe more subdued in its reversed panda styling but equally as important both ascetically and historically. I do agree though, that the overall ST2 package will make it super collectible - that box is something else - so don’t lose it!

It seems to me the Snoopy SA and ST#2 follow a similar design theme: a playful little character in the sub-dial; a time limit marked out; unique dial; unique hands; and a modified bezel.

I don’t know why but I find ST#1 a bit underwhelming, may be because it’s not very true to the Alaska Project, that it was supposed to represent some way.

Whatever I’ve read about the Alaska Project, it was all about the legibility of the dial and ST#1 is not very legible in certain light conditions and/or at certain angle due to brushed hands and the dials layout.

There may also be some service issues in future with the luminous subdials as perhaps @Archer pointed out in one of the previous threads.

On the contrary ST#2 is a really unique watch that represents both Ultraman, the watch and the TV serial, with some very interesting twists.

This is my humble opinion only and not an attempt to undermine otherwise a splendid design watch that ST#1 is.
