Thanks @hansmaulwurf !
A question to the "knowers" here in this thread! I had a look now in the first and the last 1bout 30 pages from this topic. nowere i can find a serial number that beginns with 78.xxxxxx as nine.
Should i be concerned? I bought it at a online dealer this week and could send it back - tomorrow I will check it with a official service dealer. The (white cartboard) Box has a sticker on it that shows 2017. the watch was in the biger wooden box.
how can i check production year and if serial number and watch fit and are genuine?
thanks in advance!

The sticker 2017 can be found at the back of my white outer box:

The white box is no.3:

The instruction manual is the folowing with my TinTIn:

2017 is the year of production of the box, not the watch

of course, but i don't think that they sold a watch in 2015 with a box from 2017 😉

That is korrekt, but reduces fear at KnoP to see my box is the same production year with the one he got.

I think the "I" stands for Issue and the date is 09/2016 (see first page)?!

I bought mine in 2019 and also received it with the wooden box.
Εven if you buy a NOS omega today from 90s what is most likely is to receive it with the box and instructions omega uses today.
Imagine that an AD receives 300 boxes every month and puts there all the models sold. Its impossible for a retailer to keep a stock of NOS boxes associated to the exact watch they received back then so they can sell it with the correct box after 5 years

I think i explained my concerns wrong. It wasn't about the box at all but more because of the serial number starting not with 77xxx but with 78xxx. if this is at others as well, i'm fine but i just want to b esure that i bought a original tintin and not a 1861 speedy with a tintin dial!

Only @blubarb -i think - collects the serials all of us shared with him after this thread was created so he can tell if he has more 78xxx serials BUT imho it is always safer to check authenticity with your local Omega AD Service dept (not a sales person). It is not a cheap buy iam sure 😀

The second digit of my number is an 78xxx ... as all the seen numbers start with 77 i hope that this is not "just a normal moonwatch" with a tintin dial. but if there are 78xxx out there as well, my concerns were washed away 😉

Did you see this plot? Apologies if I'm missing your point, but these data include five examples seen here in this thread with serial numbers starting with 78. The plot was posted a long time ago now (July 2018), so there may have been more since.

@MTROIS would you possibly have any further insight into this?

Compared to these plots, @KnoP 's serial number would be the latest recorded since it is 788. I am very curious to see how far out genuine TinTin serials went. My TinTin mod, which is entirely irrelevant to this thread, uses a brand new 1861 from 2021 and the serial is 789, which is a long way off from Knop's. Not at all trying to instigate more concern, but rather putting a data point out for a non TinTin.

Indeed, it would be interesting to know if there have been any as high or higher seen since I made the plot. The plot only takes into account the first 79 pages of this thread, since that's all there were at the time. So there's a whole subsequent 76 pages and roughly 1500 posts for some willing soul to trawl if they'd like to post an update 😉

Alright, so having gone through the remaining 75 pages, 78 serials were only mentioned 4 additional times with one of those being a repost of the plot chart by @WurstEver

However, they were all 787, which still leaves @KnoP 's being potentially the latest recorded. What I can suggest doing is to reach out to @Archer and ask if he can run your serial to verify the reference.

Hi Folks!
So I was at my service man in Austria regarding the authenticy and the condition of my TinTin. After that I'm even more lucky!! Serial of movement and housing fits card, so all legit! Movement and condition is perfect, no service needed! looks like it was barely in use or lets say bettes "rested for a long time".
So for me this is an absolute happy ending and the start of hopefully a great relatiomship with my TinTin 😀
Thank you all for your inputs to all of my questions!!

Hello,

You sent me the serial number via PM, and I'm not sure what your card says, but the Omega Extranet provides the following:

Serialnumber:7880XXXX
Article ref:31130423001005

Based on the number you PM'd me, this is a standard Speedmaster with the dial replaced.

Cheers, Al
