I find the story behind it most intriguing.

How ironic that the Herge family reportedly wanted no connection to an Omega Speedmaster.... and in doing so cemented the name 'Tintin' to said watch forever!

You shouldn鈥檛 have said that. Now Omega will make you feel sorry for such a blasphemy and will release another 20 000 pcs. 馃榿
Sure they can, but they will never be the first batch or in the serial range of the first batch which is now cemented in this thread, they will never use the same white and red ink from the same supplier - or the supplier will have gotten the paint from another formula - the mistakes in the print will be at different locations because the stamp tool was a few degrees warmer that day than the original run.....

Interesting.
Watchbox had a Tintin up for sale and even had a YouTube video about it.
Sold in a flash.

You can only ever have one 1st batch.

Looks like the tintin hit a new milestone on ebay--a used one (admittedly in pristine shape with all original pieces included) sold for ~$8200 via best offer on the 26th.

Probably an anomaly though since the previous high for a preowned on ebay was a touch under $7k.

Thanks to all who are messaging me with movement numbers. The number collection is growing and once we hit 250 (not that far away now) then we have something to really work with. If you don't mind, can you supply full numbers by privately messaging me here on OF. Thanks to all who resent full numbers on the last shout out. Right now I have 180 movement numbers ranging from 77682xxx to 78786xxx

Edit: lowest number corrected 馃槜

Perhaps the rise in $ is because the TinTin is such a true tool watch... 馃槈

I have yet to see one besides mine in the wild. I have also yet to have anyone recognize mine. This is a seriously under the radar value proposition the way things are going.

There weren't that many produced, so the chances of seeing one in the wild are pretty small.

How the...

I'm very suprised that Omega would release a TinTin dial/caseback for placement on a different model. I assume the watchmaker ordered the parts using an authentic TinTin serial number? Would the watchmaker be risking his affiliation with Omega doing such a thing?
