I've been looking to trade up my TinTin for another piece and approached a couple of dealers. One offered $6500 and he had the watch in hand and another stated they were not looking to buy that model. Just saying. Chrono24 has loads for sale and the cheapest from a very reputable dealer in Japan has been there ages. I can see from a dealer perspective paying over for the TinTin is quite a risk.

Please don't flame me, my collection ebbs and flows around my core three watches and I just felt it was time to move it along.

If you are looking to sell, why not wait until you get to 200+ posts and offer it up here.
I'm sure you would find a willing buyer at a reasonable price and it gets to stay in the family.
Just my 2 cents worth.

There is currently one already for sale in our private sales section. It’s on page two

@Soulcreek maybe I misunderstood your post, did you say that you're planning to buy a Tintin and you found one at $6500 or that you're thinking of selling and someone offered you $6500? (If it's the latter, I'd be interested in buying 😀)

I think he was saying he got lowballed by a dealer 😉

It is so funny this topic had come up. Immediately following the Fratello Watches Speedmaster tournament I decided to sell mine. Sold it for $17,000. I was conflicted. I was sad to see it go (I’m a 3 watch kind of guy, not a collector). But, if someone wants to give me $17K for a watch I bought for 4K and wore a lot, well. Sold.
I bought a speedy FOIS. I’m just as happy. My point is I think tintin fever kind of ran its course. I don’t think its a $17-20k watch. Maybe it will be in a few years. For now I think they’ll sell in the $10-12k range (again), which is still amazing.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was saying. Although I sort of saw it from the dealer viewpoint as well. I never said the word "Tintin" but he knew as he said "Sorry, I can't offer more on this". Felt kind of good to be going home with it again actually 😀

Does anybody know whether the Tintin was listed in the sales catalogues at all?
All I could find was this listing here in the 2013 dealer master catalog:

I saw this at the Brussels airport. Too bad I didn't have my Tintin but at least I had a Speedmaster on 😀

Hi guys… does anyone have an idea of how many 778**** references were made? Majority I’ve seen are 777**** but I’ve seen a tiny handful with the 778 affix.

Thanks guys!

This would be very difficult to answer since nobody knows how many tintins were made in the first place. Mine is a 778 bought new in 2018 so it’s fair to assume most of them were made in the earlier years from 2013~

Indeed!
I wonder however if someone recently ran the numbers in our database again using the “German tank” statistical theory of evaluation🍿
(Yes, I did recently learn something new in this great forum!! 😁)

Not sure if I missed it anywhere else… but has anyone fitted one of the new 3861 bracelets on the Tintin!?
If yes, would love to see a few pics… 👍

Not on the Tintin itself but @Scarecrow Boat put it on a new 1861 with a factory DON, idk whether the Tintin has the same case:

I don’t see why it isn’t the same case as they are both 1861. But yeah, I bought a brushed/polished 3861 bracelet. The 3861 DON bezel was just luck as it came in the watch haha. Here are some pics @MTROIS

Thank you for posting @Scarecrow Boat , appreciate it.
I must say, the new style bracelet DOES change the overall appearance of the watch. I am glad I have your photos so that I can make up my mind before spending $$$ on the bracelet. 👍
