Thank you for posting @Scarecrow Boat , appreciate it.
I must say, the new style bracelet DOES change the overall appearance of the watch. I am glad I have your photos so that I can make up my mind before spending $$$ on the bracelet. 👍
I hope it helps as it’s quite a pricey bracelet. It’s very comfortable though and adds a bit of heft. Part of me wishes I ordered the all brushed as I feel like it would have been the sportier option, but I still like how this looks.

Well,

you can go with the US1479 instead and save a lot of money with nearly the same finish 😗

This is just nuts….$26.5K
I saw some eye-popping asking prices one day last week via WatchRecon. It makes me think I really need to replace the cracked watch band on my Tintin since I wear it almost daily. I bought it initially (slightly used) because I wanted to preserve the 'real' ~2015 Speedmaster because it was more valuable, and I want to keep it in good shape for passing on to my son in a dozen or so years. At this rate I may have to think about selling the Tintin at some point and putting the money in the college fund.
ST2's unopened are the same...
Now that truly is nuts.

It's funny to me that these modern watches have jumped so much while the value of my '67 Speedmaster has been pretty stagnant. When I first got interested in Omegas I was a little late to the Speeedmaster game, and prices on vintage ones had already started taking off. I only had the stomach to buy one, and it really wasn't what I had hoped to score (I coveted '66s and straight lugs). I bought the #STs and even the CK2998 (blue) because they cost a bit less than vintage Speedmasters at the time, and because I liked the color schemes versus the full black dials. Modern issues were talked about as not being nearly as desirable due to the modern lume, etc. -- the thought was/ is they will not get nice patinas over time and will look to sterile for people to really want them.

Really interesting to observe how the pricing of the Tin Tin has marched higher and higher...I do wonder if/when this what seems like a pricing bubble will burst?

You're not kidding, I don't think I can wear most of my modern watches for reasons stated ^^. Prices on modern are escalating at dizzying rates. I had purchased a Snoopy 1 many years ago with the intention of handing it down to my daughter for her high school graduation next year. To your point, I think that watch will now pay for a good chunk of a semesters tuition.

I know this thread keeps going around in circles, but I'm going to repeat what's already been said. Is the price above the selling price, or the asking price (I couldn't see any link embedded in the description)? From other's comments, it would appear they may have peaked selling at mid-teens tops, the rest are speculative listings. Very happy to be shown otherwise, in which case I have one for the bargain price of $20,000 lol.

Does anybody know whether the Tintin was listed in the sales catalogues at all?
All I could find was this listing here in the 2013 dealer master catalog:

The year my son was born.....

....all his when he graduates high school....

When you look at the availability of LE speedys on the whole by country, it's a hard watch to find is the Tin Tin even though it's not an LE, same for some of the others. More and more LE's are being snapped up by collectors all over the world. The unfortunate side is that it has priced out many more of buying the LE they want. Look at the Alaska Project - one minute its £10k, the next its £18k! Explain that!

Take the UK - last time I looked there was 3 Tin Tin for sale, one is mine, the other is WF but it has no card. The other has since sold for £15k. So, yes they do fetch the asking prices if they are 'on market' price. Don't forget, since Brexit, buying a watch from the UK now works out cheaper than the EU as there is 26% duties to be paid. The UK watch market is now the third largest.

I have waiting lists for some pieces and they literally come in and go straight out the door! As a dealer it's hard to replace stock as more and more people selling want close to retail money from a dealer which will never work. Ive sold over 30+ Tin Tin in 5 years, so I track the market closely.

If anyone in the UK is looking for a Tin Tin - I have one, with a few more on the way. Drop me a DM.

You are absolutely right, many people are now being priced out of owning some of these LE watches.

Fortunately, I recently lucked out as a fellow OF member was selling his Tintin for near retail price and, despite the fact that it had no box nor papers, it will come back looking brand new from its service with Omega and will become a great gift for the 50th of one of my best buddies who is an absolute Tintin nut!!

But yes, sadly, the days where many of the Speedy LEs were available for sub $10k, and even sometimes sub $7k, are long gone… 🙁

Ahhh I was wondering who picked this one up! I'm so happy it has this story to go along with it as well 😀 That is very exciting!

IMHO, the price appreciation is a combination of monetary policy, government stimulus and "relief" programs, and global concerns about inflation and currency devaluation - a lot of people have had a lot of cash for the last 2 years, and have been moving that into commodities, including luxury goods. Its not watch collectors that are driving up these prices. 2 years ago, TinTin's and others benchmark pieces were going up at a much much slower pace; in fact, prices were flat in many cases. Then came trillions in stimulus, monetary easing, Covid relief, etc. and all that money has to go somewhere; its propped up stock markets, bonds markets, and commodities. Hello inflation. Will everything come crashing back down? Who knows, maybe this MMT goes on forever, I'm not smart enough to know, but I do know, its not watch collectors battling each other pushing these kind of price movements. I'm not a buyer in this market, that's for sure.
