Speedy reduced pre purchase question

I am not sure if this should be in Modern or vintage. Please move it if I am wrong.
I looked at a speedy reduced today, and would like a sanity check, please. To my eyes and mind it looks okay, there is a soft ding on the case side @ 9, lugs are okay. It is on an aftermarket bracelet ATM.
Does anything seem amiss in this wrist shot?

Far more influential of the value is the service history. You don’t want to end up with a watch that needs a service

I am completely unfamiliar of the reduced, other than some watchmakers don’t like to service certain reduced models as they have challenges.

Look okay to me. Omega will service that watch for about $850. High market price for that watch is around $2500 to $2600 (USD) with a good size bracelet from what I've seen.

Hi, thanks for replying. Service does need to be fleshed out, and that is not a conversation i have had yet with my watchmaker. The chrono functions properly, resets to 0, and is currently a semi daily wearer.

Thanks for the sanity check. i have often looked at other posts like this thinking "that watch looks okay to me", and then someone points out something amiss. This watch came up unannounced on my radar, and does scratch an itch.

I bought a reduced some time ago because a) I didn't know anything about the difference between "reduced" and other kinds of Speedies (sounds like you do, though) and b) I loved the size and look, as the dial lume had developed a nice creamy patina. Paid about $2K and shortly afterwards discovered the mainspring was shot and had to be replaced. That and a full service cost me about $1K. An expensive lesson in the need to do better due diligence before pulling the trigger on a watch. On the bright sight, the watch still runs great and my wife has taken to wearing it regularly.

If its a bargain catch this fish 👍
But for my taste the aftermarket bracelet doesn`t complement this beauty.

Service for the DD modul isn`t an easy thing even to experienced watchmakers so it can be turn out pricy even Omega itself swap this modul to a new one and send them back to DD for an overhaul.

Anyone want to elaborate on what the 'reduced' means? is it a smaller variant, maybe less features? [edit] nm found some articles, glad I know now.

The diameter is smaller compared to the pro.
But reduced means Automatic so IMO it`s not that far reduced at all 😁

Omega themselves dubbed it the Reduced it is not an aftermarket nickname. Maybe they meant reduced desirability, reduced reliability or reduced size who knows? 😗

In fact it is an old nickname, Omega only started using it recently. When I bought mine in 2016 my searches found no evidence of Omega using the name.

We know you don't like them, but some people do 😜

The Reduced has a base ETA 2890-2 movement with a Dubois-Dépraz 2020 time and chronograph module sitting on top. It's a fairly commonly used method of construction. The difficulty is that expertise in servicing the 2020 is rather scarce hence the swap not strip policy.

There are several articles on the interwebs describing the differences.

Its worth mentioning that the hands where driven through the DD module so more often than one wants to know independent watchmakers bypass servicing the DD module and service the movement only but this can result in malfunctioning of the whole watch.

Omega have actually referred to the 3510.50 as the Reduced for quite some time, perhaps since launch. Here is an extract for an official UK price list from 2001, you can see they use that term in the description
