Speedy Moonwatch

Just acquired the outgoing moonwatch 1863 sapphire sandwich on the bracelet.

After some advice - is it damaging, in terms of increased wear and tear if one runs the chronograph all the time - i. understand that some chronographs (with vertical column wheel??? something i heard on Watchbox videos) do not wear if its running, does that imply those without a vertical column wheel do? and does the 1863 have a non-vertical column wheel - (sorry dont know all the right technical terminology)?

By the way I really really do love it, kicking myself that I waited so long to get one.

Thanks.

I think you might be getting column wheels and clutches confused.

I'm led to believe you will get more wear using the chrono all the time, but is negligible, I'll leave better qualified people to answer this fully - you can wear the watch whilst wearing the chronograph.

Thanks for the link and wow what a post & explanation - brilliant.

So my 1863 is new and from what i read the wear is negligible and worse case will need an extra part or two at time of service in 5 years??? time...I hope my deduction from the explanation is correct.

I think I will leave it running.

I must say having had many many watches, Subs, 300MC, 300Diver, DeVilles, Explorer, OP, VC Overseas3, FOIS, BB58, FastRider, etc etc...I cant get over how perfect my new Speedy (outgoing model) just feels better over and above all those others...why didn't I just get a Speedy to start with?!? - Those NASA boys weren't stupid!!!
