We have a discussion here about a speedy from 1971.
It should be an original watch with first dial and hands.
Looking at my Moonwatch only book it should have the stepped dial.
But thisone is flat.
Is that possible or is it 100% a redial

Without pictures it is hard to say. can be a later one(probably not a older one) or a redial. Check out google or speedmaster101

I don't think it's a redial, probably more of a franken watch or it was accidentally swapped during service at some point in its life. As MWO and speedmaster101.com suggests, it should have a stepped dial.

Posting pictures of the watch will get you more useful help.

Probably a service dial, but photos are necessary.

OK it was owned by a watchmaker and he assured its originally delivered with flat dial .
Inside the backside is 145022-71
Year is 1971

Maybe i better change the question.

Did they ever delivered a new 145022-71 watch with flat dial in 1971 ?

@Atalian2005
I have the same thoughts

Serial is way off for a 71 speedmaster, should be from 31xxxx, maybe the wrong back cover, it would be a lot easier with pictures. Is the omega label on the dial in white or metal on the dial?

White omega sign
And serial is on the watch not on the cover.
And no Delrin brake inside

Thats a later dial as it has the long S of Speedmaster and also a serial of 27055 would not be in a '71 either.

Its probably a late 70's dial but since the serial doesnt match either I would say its a watch made up of various parts and not something that originally came that way from Omega.

Why?
A serial is a serial, a long S is what it is and the dial is flat or stepped.

And my question was.
Are 1971 omega speedmasters type 145022-71ST delivered with stepped dial only ?

Not really got an answer on that.
No need pictures for that.

Anyway
Now i know it's probably a franken and a no go.

Thanks for the replys gentlemen.

In the first reply from seaborg there was a link to Speedmaster 101... there is written that a speedmaster from 71 should have a stepped dial 😉

Because a) if you need to ask such a question, there's other things you're likely to miss, which a picture will show us, and b) we like to see pictures so if you're asking for help and three people ask to see pictures, the polite thing to do is post some.

Unless of course it's a watch you're looking to sell not buy and you don't want pictures of it being criticised on the internet.

Yes. The currency of help here is photos.

We love them.

You want help, we need photos or pretty quick, as you see here, the worm turns and useful help dries up.

In other words, round here pictures are polite
