Here is the movement of the Alaska.

Colour of the bridge with serial number looks like it doesn't match...or is it just the light?

There is a growing group of collectors who have actual understanding of correctness and originality, and the market speaks through them now.

This watch was correct, and had the added FAP interest which from what I hear is becoming more appreciated - perhaps a spill-over from rolex types.

I went to Geneva and I did not see a genuine lollipop on a speedmaster.

On inspection, the Ultraman had a fake/non original hand.

The Soyuz that sold for 90k had 5mm pushers, and interestingly enough the Soyuz from the HK sale was there, (no 73) and this not only had 5mm pushers but the case was incorrect too, not having cutouts for the 5.5mm pushers.

Combined with the fake bezel on the Ed White, this trip had plenty to see.

These issues do not put me off auctions, or buying vintage, for me it is all part of the fun.

I can't see any difference in Ultraman hand... could you tell what was that? Too short?

For me, at $53,500 this correct example may have been the best buy in Geneva.

Surprised at this result, and agree: I’d buy this today at $53K if offered

I also find BA145.022 the best deal from the auction. But todays news with Collins' BA145.022 being auctioned is really interesting one. I wonder what can be a premium for genuine astronaut's watch. Even after first sight the one from Philips looks better.

Condition will be trumped by provenance on the Collins watch

This one is likely to go for BIG $$$$

Edit: yes, I know, I am stating the obvious, Sherlock, but I needed to do so…. May be to convince myself that I don’t even need to bother bidding on it. I am thus rooting for the Omega Museum! 😁

The only reason there are any BA 145.022 watches is because of the people who had their names engraved on the caseback. MIchael Collins could have run a lawn mower over his watch and I'd prefer it all day every day.

I'm betting that Collins watch goes for a minimum of $250K and likely far more - a million or more would not surprise me. The only ones that would be worth more would be Armstrong or Aldrin.

But they are never going to imprison a national icon like Buzz! 😉

Great write up. The Speedmaster world would be a dull and boring place without you.

Is it that Ed White? It sold quite low. It looks atractive to me and would expect more for that one.

Not quite sure I understand the post above. Look like a -65 Ed White I don't think this was sold at Philips, or was it? Or is it yours and you want comment?

It was sold at Phillips but in HK, not Geneva. But one of Soyuz which William refers to was also from HK auction. So I assume he saw watches in Geneva also for HK auction.
