Speedmaster, what do you use the stop watch for?

Since the chrono hand tracks seconds, not hours, can someone explain how to use the chrono function to track a second time zone? It’s probably really obvious, but I’ve thought about it and can’t seem to get my head around it. Thanks!

Fairly simple. Start the watch at 12:00am for the second time zone. The hour recorder is 12 hours. The minute is the same but you then use the hour sub dial as the hours for the 2nd zone.

Not the most user friendly, which is why a lot of us swear by GMT as being one of the most useful complications if you travel.

Oh, I get it. Thanks, Foo! You’re right - an actual GMT is way easier.

I frequently use the stop watch function [of my modern Speedy Gonzales Moonwatch] to time the cooking of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese...as well as how long it takes for some random jackhole to say “Metallica sucks!”...or...on a more positive note, how long it takes for some random cool person to say “Metallica rocks!”...YA!

Metallica Rocks!
Not too shabby, random cool person named Foo2rama...that only took 16 minutes and 53 seconds. 👍

I use to it time the re-entry burn into earth's atmosphere....NOT.
Mostly to cook my ramen and boiling eggs.

I have a client that uses his FOIS chrono as a seconds indicator (instead of the running seconds subdial)

He is not a watch guy but I’m 99% sure he thinks or wants to see the white seconds on the chrono as the actual seconds hand so he is constantly running the chrono

I don’t want to be patronising so haven’t said anything

I find adding and subtracting the hours even easier than using any watch...

Unless you're in one of those forsaken lands where the date is wrong and they don't use even hours. Then you need a second watch, but which would be the correct arm to wear it. There are still those recalcitrant Euros who can't even coordinate daylight saving time dates with the developed world.

I like to use it for cooking chicken or for fun to see how long mundane tasks take in my daily life

Too bad the developed world didn't invent DST and didn't even managed to have this change done in sync across the whole country ^^

The time is right there on the display. What am I missing? Did they change that over the years? (mine is ~10 years old now)
