Speedmaster, what do you use the stop watch for?

@jimmyd13 I checked what it was and if it is the "Microcimbali" then it may be already too big. Mine is only 12cm wide, do not have much more margin and a lever machine requires a grinder. Ground coffee could do, but I feel any good espresso machine deserves freshly ground coffee. I'm kinda "all or nothing" on some topics (Why no SS 321? Whyyyyy? :D)

Maybe in my next appartment... The kitchen size will be a key element this time. Then, I could use my Speedy to time Espresso

    That's the one: http://www.francescoceccarelli.eu/Macchine/La_Cimbali/liberty_1996_eng.htm

You can always go with a good moka pot

Somehow, a flea jumped off my cat and got inside my vintage Speedy. He jumps up and down on the dial and keeps bashing his head on the glass. I like to click the pusher, and watch the chrono hand chase him round and round the dial . .... one of these days the chrono reset is gonna chop his 'fakkin' head off!

He's a brown flea, so is tricky to spot him.

    A flea got inside it?

Does that mean it's not waterproof anymore, then?

Espresso extraction, so I use it daily with my morning espresso

    Other uses are occasional;

    Sometimes when I’m cooking
    Parking
Others uses are too finicky to mention

Yes, similar to how you can go with a Seiko quartz until you get a vintage 321 Speedy :D

I have a Bialetti one, I bought it way before my small pod espresso machine. And it is waaay more complicated to get it right than a Seiko quartz. I really nailed it only a few time. The rest was between good and meh. Good thing was, the meh ones that happened on the weekend usually received an extra kick.
Where is the "WRUD Today" topic again ? :D

OK, I'm finished for the day. Feet up. Telly on. I've made my watch box; fixed a Rolex box; repaired a Seiko; been in to the shop; stripped and cleaned a host of little bits waiting to be silver plated .... So, let me impart a little Moka magic:

First, moka pots don't like fine grounds. You've said you don't have a grinder and so must be buying pre-ground. Don't buy anything that says "espresso" on it. Usually that means it's over-roasted but, at the least, it means it's finely ground. No good for a moka pot.

Instead, get a medium roast and medium ground coffee. Next, don't fill the pot with cold water; fill it with water just off the boil. Obviously, be careful. Fill it to just under the over-pressure valve. Put the coffee in the middle and screw the top on. Use a dry cloth to insulate.

Next, the pot goes on a low to medium heat with the top open. Watch the pot. As the coffee comes through, let it fill a third to half way, then remove the pot from heat and drop the lid. The pressure in the pot will be enough to finish the brew.

Try it that way and see what you think. If you want, I'll explain all the reasons this method works best.

How fast can a Colt Model 1911 be field-stripped, start to finish?

Not a huge rodeo fan, though it's so very popular in this part of the world so I whiled away the evening at a rodeo we attended verifying the announcements of the times for the various events. They were badly off on an occasion too. Of course I didn't call 'em out on it, however they did recant, "lick their calf over" and restate the correct time for the team penning event just completed. Was gratified to have noticed it thanks the Speedmaster.

In planning our handbell concert, I use it to time the length of specific pieces.

I used my Speedy once to time my co-worker's attempt to do the Death Nut challenge. You have to sit for 90 seconds between each level and then 5 minutes on the last level. Other than that, I've only used it for fun to just watch the chrono work.

Does anyone synchronise both seconds hands? I do. I think it looks neat with them both hitting the same marks at the same time. Both hitting the 45 at the same time is my favourite. :D

Had one for 12 years and always used for timing laps on the pit wall... and cooking poached eggs of course

Not a speedy but an omega chrono

Used tonight to time some steak

It would be 10x easier to use the iPhone — I had to get a bit of soap and water on the oil splashes after. But I don’t care, I’m a watch guy :D
