^Many thanks for your most kind responses, gents :)

I agree with you 110% on the price :(

As for the case... I have two SMPs so I thought why not, a classic Speedmaster would make for a nice variation in my very small collection :) After all, the "2nd generation" 321 was first used with the 105.003-63/-64 "Pre-Moon" Speedmasters.

I have only two "if I had my way" points...
First off... hesalite - 'cause plexi is sexy ::love:: - especially compared to Omega's boxed sapphire crystals! ::facepalm2::
Secondly - and this applies to all "tribute" watches from all brands - not a fan of aged patina... I want the watch to look like it did when Ed White was wearing it...

But just look at that dial... and that movement (and the fact that it can be enjoyed through the display-back ::psy::)... and of course the small touches DON, teardrop counterweight, fonts... ::love:::thumbsup:

    What a great write-up!

I really like the watch and the photos show great detail. Thanks for posting.

I don't think I can quite compare with Traveller's fantastic photos, but for fun here's one of my ST with a tiny racecar

Actually, it's period-accurate and us collectors are getting faux patina all wrong. Check out old Speedmaster ads from the 60s and early 70s. You'll notice a brand new watch in those ads does not have white indices as it does today. The indices are creamish or slightly greenish or yellowish...hence that may be how it looked to Ed White when he picked his up.

@frazierspa and knows what I'm talking about.

This is possibly the greatest watch review on the internet. :)
    Thanks.

After some time away. This is probably still the best post on the subject.

I missed that post. Super nice reviews and pictures! I wondered if that was Omega's very first online watch sales, which is pretty historical in itself, also considering that it is the first piece explicitely designed for the Omega fanbase, preluding the strategy of Mr. Aeschlimann for the following years . Glad I could get a cool LE number!

On both Speedy Tuesdays there are some cool details you don’t see straight away. Speedy Tuesday 2 has a step dial, DON and applied Logo

It's a real sleeper in the Speedmaster LE line....looks different in the flesh, all brushed surfaces except the Omega logos on the dial, crown and tang buckle. Those are the only polished bits on the watch. Everything else is brushed in an almost aluminum look. Very cool.

I was lucky enough to pick one up from a seller here on OF two years ago before they spiked in price.

Sorry for the dumb question as am new to all of this but what was the rationale for not going with a step-dial on that model?
