I thought these were going to be just another pointless, oversized, overweight, novelty. I was wrong, they are Ultra Cool! Take note of the new clasp on the steel bracelet, this is a huge improvement on the PO version, wonderfully integrated with a butter smooth extension operation. Fab dial! Had to be seen live to be appreciated. Ultra Deep on the left, my 300M Diver on the right for comparison. The UD looks huge, but wears surprisingly “thin”. The PO looks lost in this comparison. Here is the real improvement that comes with the Ultra Deep. You were wondering about the thickness? ..for context Titanium UD vs my 300M Diver For the Weight-Watchers amongst you.
wow!! excellent, detailed pix. Thanx for sharing. That is one thick, heavy watch indeed!!! And, I thought my SM 300 Pro was thick (15mm) & heavy (205gm) -- but your Deep Sea out-does it by a long shot.........
Are these demo/exhibition models (I know this is Omega and not the crown… ) or are they already available for sale at the OBs!? Haven’t received a call from my SA… sooooo, wondering!
These were functional demo models “on tour” going from OB to OB, so not available to buy in store…yet. Some had serial numbers others just the “not for sale” engraving on the rear of the lugs. Edit: Wait, come to think of it I was so mesmerized by the dial, bracelet and clasp I forgot to fiddle with the crown, so who knows, maybe they were just demo models.
Thanks for posting, the steel version looks incredible, can I ask your wrist measurement? I’m trying to convince myself I can carry this off.
Beautiful watch, though the freakish size is just too much! The thing that excites me here is the clasp, what a cool design. Here's hoping it makes an appearance on other Omegas in future.
Huge! And why the metal calipers on a brand new piece? That can and will scratch it. Those things jaws can not be sharper.
I tried it on for a while and it was just too huge for my tiny wrist, but I have to say I am in awe of the technology and you could almost "feel" the effort that went into making a watch that can literally go as deep as it gets. Finishing is superb and the fading blue dial sublime. My only tiny gripe is that I would have like the option of a titanium bracelet. I'm a big fan of the X-33 titanium bracelet and this could have made the weight management, perhaps. But still, too big for me to wear. For those with wrists like Mr. T....
