Why did you offer the seller a partial refund before eBay makes the ruling in your favor?

:face palm:

Dude your making your life harder and potentially giving reason for ebay to deny it. Please stop talking to the seller as many people have told you. As well as eBay recommends on their return policy page.

Do not tell the seller you'll accept a partial refund.

Open a case and email him saying it does not work correctly and as such, it is not as described, then chill out and stop panicking. You'll get a response in a couple of days.

Hi, all, I just received the speedy reduced I posted about over the weekend and there are some unforeseen issues with the watch. Ive decided not to open a return on Ebay, since I'm sure it would be a massive pain anyway to do so.
Here are the issues I've found:
1. The chrono hand jumps occasionally as its going around the dial
2. The pushers are sticky(sometimes require a bit of force to operate
3. The chrono hand and the 30 min counter hand don't reset completely to zero

Now, while this is a bit disappointing since these issues weren't described in the listing, I was told by the seller that the last time he had it serviced was 4-6 years ago. Do these issues commonly happen when a speedy reduced needs to be serviced/the module needs to be fixed/replaced? With that said, I do like the watch, which makes this even more frustrating.
Sorry for being late to the thread, I genuinely don't enjoy seeing this happen but it sort of reinforces what we were saying about buying a reduced in that other thread a week or so back.

It does need to be serviced, the module is replaced typically by Omega when the watch is serviced. "last time it was serviced was 4-6 years ago" isn't worth anything, unless he has a receipt from Omega or an Omega service center or equivalent quality independent the service either didn't happen or could have been done by a dunk'n'swish corner jeweller that had no access to parts. Even if it did get done properly by someone competent, 4-6 means 6 or more and its due for a service again now regardless.

I would return the watch entirely and get something other than a reduced, either a Date, MK40, Co-Axial Racing or Pro, all of them are better choices and much cheaper and easier to get serviced and maintained.

Seriously though if a guy says a watch for sale was serviced always ask for the receipt, if they don't have it then you can trust it about as much as a 4 year old telling you they've already brushed their teeth before bed.

Thanks for all of the replies and advice guys. I know, it was pretty dumb to write the seller and tell him id settle for a partial refund..but I was just fed up and didn't really want to fight this whole thing anymore. At this point though..i'm taking the advice that has been given to me by many and plan to contact ebay on the 19th(thats when they told me I could ask them to step in). Hopefully I didn't screw myself too bad(hopefully not at all) by messaging the seller back. I will definitely never touch another reduced again..thats for sure.

These are classic signs of the need for service. I recommend using Omega for service as they typically give you a two-year warranty with that service. You can save some money if you find an authorized independent watch service that can do the service, but the good ones are tough to find. Some forum members have had awesome experiences with independent repair services and can offer recommendations.
Omega is the last place to send a watch like that!
They are expensive and insensitive to the needs of a collector.

There are just so many examples of lovely vintage Omega that have been completely devastated as a collectors item after a "full Omega package ".

They are also the most expensive ones around.

With all due respect I believe your advice is very wrong.
Independent watchmakers is the preferred way to go.
They will in general care more for your watch, listen to your requirements, and not rob you at the end.

Independent may be the way to go IF you find a great one. I've heard horror stories about subpar independent shops botching jobs.

It's incredibly hard for a buyer to lose a return request. You'll be fine. Don't let it stress you out.

That applies to most vintage Omega's, not the reduced. There are no local independents around my town that can even service them, they have to send them to the Omega service center due to the piggyback module.

If you hang in here long enough you will see my point.
Not any battery-swapper down at the mall for sure, you need someone with references.
This should go for any job you need to have done to something of value.
There are plenty members from all over the world on this forum.
A quick forum inquiry about recommended independent watchmakers in your area will often work.

Omega is NOT the place for (neo) vintage stuff. Take it from a collector with some experience in this matter.

If the watch had looked like it did in the first pic here(sellers pic) and as the seller said "worked amazingly" id have no problem keeping it. As you can see by my pic that I posted before...looks nothing like the seller's pic.

I'd start focusing on what you want its replacement to be, that's something more positive and exciting than dwelling on this misstep which Paypal/eBay should honestly not have a problem resolving for you.

Agreed. Go regular eBay returns. Not as presented. No prob.
Do not get into any discussion with the seller. Do everything through eBay.
Good luck!

As far as I know the piggyback module does not need to get discarded. It's just cheaper to swap it for Omega.

I have three independents I use, seriously good guys and one in particular has often fabricated some rather complex replacement vintage parts for me, yet none of them will touch these at all and tell me to take it to the service center. Similarly @Archer from memory doesn't accept these for service either but you'd have to double check that with him.
