That looks amazing, but can you measure the current case dimensions now please?
Just wondering how much metal has been removed to get the case shape back?
If you look at the photos of the lug ends, this is where excessive material removal shows the best on these cases. I've seen some where the recess for the bracelet is nearly breaking through the case. This case seems to have plenty of material left in this area (not a lot different than the before photos), so I would say it was done very well.
Hi Al
that was the point I was trying to make ( on page 1) - as The ends look very good now, but they were completely shot before restoration
so the only way I can see how they got the lugs back to this thickness, was to shorten the case ( lug to lug) lenght
Well I've finally received the case back from Replateit in Canada after a long delay due to Christmas backlogs and Peter has done a fantastic job. He has relapped the case reproducing the original starburst finish and replated it, polished (not over-polished) the case back, replated the crown and pushers. I'm delighted with the outcome. Next step is to order a new crystal and gaskets. I'm going to replace the pusher screws, springs and tubes. Is it acceptable to use generic items or would it be advisable to source Omega items (if there is such a thing - I'm a bit of a novice)?
