HiGuys, Thanks for all the advice. I've decided to send it to Re-plate it, buy a new crystal/tachymeter and put a leather strap on it. Her are some before shots of the case and I'll update this thread when I get it back:

Good Luck and thanks for the before photos.
I'm sure it will be stunning when you complete the restoration.

Thanks Roman, I have mixed feelings of trepidation and excitement. The truth is I would never wear the watch in it's current state so refurbishment is the only option.

Well I've finally received the case back from Replateit in Canada after a long delay due to Christmas backlogs and Peter has done a fantastic job. He has relapped the case reproducing the original starburst finish and replated it, polished (not over-polished) the case back, replated the crown and pushers. I'm delighted with the outcome. Next step is to order a new crystal and gaskets. I'm going to replace the pusher screws, springs and tubes. Is it acceptable to use generic items or would it be advisable to source Omega items (if there is such a thing - I'm a bit of a novice)?

Fantastic job! I just sent an old chronograph case to Replateit, can't wait to see the results.

That looks amazing, but can you measure the current case dimensions now please?
Just wondering how much metal has been removed to get the case shape back?

If you look at the photos of the lug ends, this is where excessive material removal shows the best on these cases. I've seen some where the recess for the bracelet is nearly breaking through the case. This case seems to have plenty of material left in this area (not a lot different than the before photos), so I would say it was done very well.

Hi Al

that was the point I was trying to make ( on page 1) - as The ends look very good now, but they were completely shot before restoration

so the only way I can see how they got the lugs back to this thickness, was to shorten the case ( lug to lug) lenght

If you look at the photo from above, there was more material there than the other photos indicate...

As you can see from the second photo the length lug to lug is 45mm which is what it should be. The mark ll had concealed lugs.

That’s a lovely job they’ve done. I was also really pleased with the job they did of replating my Certina DS. You’ll certainly be able to enjoy this watch now. Best of luck with the rest of the refurb.

Hi guys, I’m looking for some help. My watchmaker is currently reassembling my watch but we don’t have any gaskets for the pushers (I believe there are two gaskets per pusher). Omega will only supply a complete pusher unit (at £100 each). Does anyone know where I could get the specifications for the gaskets?

Thanks in advance.
