Good evening! I've tried to do my research but would like the opinions of more qualified minds.

I'm offered a trade in which this Speedmaster would offest approx $4,000USD.

From reading threads and comparing to examples at speedmaster101 I think this is a 145.022-78. This is due to the dome dial, t swiss made t, long s and r in speedmaster. That would narrow it down to approx 1978-mid 80s right?

Any thoughts, corrections, or trolling is welcomed! Sellers pics

Your assessment is correct. It could technically be a late -76. But my guess is a 145.022 from the 80’s based on condition and dial lume.

no comment on price. I need to see a natural light shot. The hands might be replaced can’t tell with that picture.

Thanks Foo2rama! I appreciate the reassurance. Is there a way I could know in person if the hands have been replaced or is it something you get a feel for with experience?

Natural light picture and I could tell you.

basically lume on hands should appear slightly darker then the dial. It’s technically the same color usually but the white on the hands plays a visual trick.

in 861 production there are no service dials…

so there is a chance this is an earlier piece and it was serviced at Omega in the 80’s as well.

hence for any 145.022 variant ideally you want to see the serial to see if it’s all correct for the serial number.

UV (black light) illumination could also be helpful. You want to see reasonably similar response and relaxation on the hands and dial. And if the hands happen to be luminova, that will be really obvious under UV, even to someone without much experience.

The more I look at it, it looks like a washed (lume removed) dial and new luminova hands…

…if that’s the case 4K is way high IMHO.

but again pictures can be deceiving.

Sounds like I need to check serial and ref #, verify lume is intact and original to the best of my ablility and check for consistency of dial and hand lume. I'm going to try to see it in the morning.

Ideally ask for more pictures in better light at different angles. Due to hesalit scratches the dial often looks worse than it is, but sometines wise worser.
