"Speedmaster Companion" 165.002 hands

Hello All

I've got a beautiful Omega (with, what I think, is called a soleil dial?) and the "Speedmaster" layout in lovely aged tritium, circa 1966. (Not sure it actually is a "Speedmaster Companion" but you get the idea.)

It has dauphine hands. I think they are original (certainly very old) but I find it hard to read the time at a glance as they don't really stand out against the blue-grey slate ground. (My eyes are also very old!)

I've seen others like this with white Speedy-style stick hands. Does anyone know where I can get a set, even just hour and minutes. Ideally old ones that have gone a soft off-white.

Finally, it's on a period correct Fixoflex-style bracelet which really suits it but can anyone recommend me a flat link bracelet? It's a slim watch and needs a nice think braclet.

Pics!

Thanks!

Thanks @tapaptpat that's great. I like the screws and sprung link on the Forster. Mind you, I'm quite enjoying the vintage Fixoflex. I know the Speedy is a strap monster and looks good on anything but these cases with this dial seems harder to get a good match. Thin flat black leather works OK and would look great if the dial was black. I tried grey, but it was also a no. It screams "flat link bracelet" in keeping with the low profile but I quite like the naked lugs sans endlinks, it shows off their square cross-section and allows the radius of the case to flow uninterrupted.

Anyone know where I could get some white stick hands? This watch is fast becoming my go-to favourite for smarter occasions. Also, my mother likes it and a man who doesn't care what his mother thinks is mad (as is a man who cares too much).

Got to like a folding clasp, as you could fit for your wrist then quickly get adjusted for Mum.
Hope she will get as much enjoyment wearing it, as you will seeing her wear it. (came out a little clunky but I hope you get my sentiment)

To answer you hand question better.

Check if there are any suitable hands from fournitures for 165.002

Maybe your buddy @rodabod can help as it need some knowledgable watchmaker to pull in an assist

Cheers

Nice thread @pennsyl936

The link that Pennsyl936 posted, does it have the hands you are calling 'speedy-style stick?

I don’t ever recall seeing dauphine hands on these. I’m fairly sure stick is the correct hand type. I also think steel hands are correct for blue dials with white being correct for black dials.

As to where they can be found, perhaps from Omega if you can find a watchmaker with a parts account. Otherwise probably eBay.

Hi again Rev.O
Not found your reference all with images are with applied markers/numerals with the exception of 3 references eg Seamaster 30, 300 and Dynamic.
All of these references use cal.552 and as we see below there are a number of hand sets depending of reference.

Not all have pictures in the vintage section but here is a variety of results

Need to look in catalogs from 1962 onward to see if you reference is listed.
Can you confirm exact reference number(from inside caseback?
