Mine says hi as well! The crown on it seems to be an oversize service replacement, but the lume and dial are original. These watches always seem to show a different shade of slate blue depending on the lighting. I'm pretty sure the case is an SGR, but I'm not 100% on that.

Woah, your time piece is something else! Can't wait to get a clean crystal on mine so I can see how the sunburst really shines haha. Really nice though and love to see what original lume should look like. I'd also be curious if yours is an SGR or an EPSA case as the others I've seen with the non-applied Omega logo as yours is above the "Omega Automatic" have the simple diver logo on the inside of the case.

The other option for these was a flatlink with 18mm endlinks (can’t remember which model), but all the greedy Speedy/SM300 guys have hoarded those and fit 20mm endlinks on them, despite them not really being the same bracelet as the ones intended for those watches (the 18mm flatlink had smaller last links than the 20).

Not sure if you're referring to the 1168, but I had one of those on my 165.002 at one point (605 end links). They paired very well, but it was slightly too tight on my wrist. I sold it to another member recently, who actually paired it with the same reference.

Regarding your lume, beauty’s in the eye of the beholder but with these Technic or Companion type dials, they either have coloured accents (such as the red crosshair), coloured dials (such as the blue ‘soleil’ type) or large lume areas to give the pieces an extra pop compared to standard versions of the same reference. The lume plays a large part in this so for me, yours would be a great candidate for a relume as it would really lift the entire watch to another level.

Then again I of course see the originality argument.

I would say there’s still a chance your lume isn’t original anyway, it’s just hard to be sure from your pics.

Whatever you decide these are lovely watches. Congrats!
Just curious of how it would look with the lume removed but not relumed?

Sorry, very late to this discussion. Original lume. Unoriginal crown. Options? find a suitable Omega crown. Polish the crystal (assuming it is an Omega) and enjoy.
The relume question is a valid one. If I had access to an artist that could relume with an aged tritium (color adjusted) and not cost 50% of the value of the watch, I would do it. Otherwise leave it alone. The dials that are scraped back to white look worse in my opinion.
When these 165.002 and 166.002 were a little more available we had the ability to pass on these dials with issues. That said, if you got a good price, you did fine.

I thought the same thing but I'm leaning towards leaving it in original condition once I find a correct crown and crystal.

Thanks! I have a correct crown on the way and looking to find a omega crystal as the one on mine is cracked.

Appreciate your point of view on the lume. I don't know of anyone local to me or within a reasonable mailable distance (I'm in the Los Angeles area) but not opposed to reaching out to a recommended artist to get a quote.

As to the price of these, I'm not 100% sure of the appropriate market value of the Speedmaster Companions but very curious to know what you think would have been a reasonable asking price. What I paid was within my budget but still curious to know what is view as reasonable.

I would leave it alone. These darker sunburst dials are fairly delicate (not as bad as the blue but potentially). The paint on a Speedmaster dial is a bit more robust and can take the process of lume removal and relume, but I fear attempting that on one of these could do more harm than good. If anyone has an example of the contrary- please share it.

I have bought 4? crystals from this guy. The shipping cost has gone crazy, but his price is good.

And this guy, but you will need a silver tension ring.

Thanks @kingsrider! I'll look into the watchmakers you recommended.

I was under the impression that the part number for the 165.002's crystal was 063pz5028 but good to know I was mistaken and that the correcct part number is PZ5056. Would have been a bummer when I finally sourced one and took it to my local watchmaker to replace lol.

Got a bit of an update. Correct crown arrived from Poland today with a new winding stem and my local watch maker was able to swap the components while I waited. Pretty thankful for that! Here are a couple pics.

Looking forward to the NOS signed Omega crystal and a correct Omega BOR bracelet to arrive later this week!

Where did you find the crystal? I have been hunting for one myself

@JwRosenthal A few posts up in the thread Kingsrider provides a few sources. Seems the crystal from the 166.002 will also work.

Thanks @behardy - I looked at those but they all have the gold tension ring. Mine is aftermarket, perhaps the tension ring would work but may not. Luckily you have the original crystal so you can just swap the ring over.

Bracelet arrived! End links are apparently the "Long 70" end links, that @JwRosenthal mentioned a few posts back, so they're positioned a bit strange until I can have them adjusted. But I didn't want to misplace them so I just rotated them in order to secure the spring bars.

Back from a complete overhaul, including a N.O.S. signed crystal, adjusted endlinks and the period correct crown. I still think the endlinks are a little bit off so I'll keep looking for some that fit better but for now I'm happy that I'm able to wear it!

And finally on my wrist

Are the endlinks 70? I was told those are correct for it but they fit mine funky too. If you find a better fit, please post.
