Speedmaster caseback protectice covering.

Whilst checking out some 1990s Speedmasters up for sale I have noticed a partial blue colouring to the caseback of a couple, and wonder if this is likely to be the remains of the original caseback sticker. Any thoughts people?

yep, but not a sticker - some sort of protection wax...

Anyone can get the wax coating as it’s sold in most metal working shops and Steel websites.
Was only looking at some metal for a current knife project where it was on the ends of some knife steels, and sure enough they sold it also.
