Here is a lovely Patinated 2998 at what I think is a very good price. You will either love the patina (as I do) or hate it, but at this price it will be impossible to find a more attractive and correct example.

This watch has an extract showing delivery to Peru, 19 July 1963. (Extract is included).

Dot Over 90 Bezel it fair condition. It is correct and the condition fits the watch - it all looks right.

A tropical dial - truly tropical from Peru!

It has just been serviced by Simon Freese then worn by me on test to make sure.

Case shows a little wear but its not bad. The back has seen polish but the bevels are still present.

Crown is 24 Tooth and vintage. One pusher is slightly dinged

Dial is stepped, Non Professional, long indices, SWISS MADE and correct. In spite of the damage, or perhaps because of it, it is very attrtactive. Of course the price helps it be attractive too.

It has not been re lumed and the dial itself while patinated we do not think it is going to flake into movement.

Vintage dust cover

Note the damaged pusher is on the left.

Hands are triangle lume alphas and lollipop.(The best combo!). The alpha hands have a transverse curve, and I believe them original. These hands are becoming super valuable, but I do not dismantle watches and re distribute parts, I prefer to leave them as original as I can.

Why am I selling?
I am slowly re-focusing my collection into a smaller number of finer watches. This watch is very attractive, and I have another less valuable 2998 that I am keeping. I do not want to keep both

Price £11,800 wire Transfer to my bank in HK or Face to Face in UK (With Cash if you like)

Why is it good?
It is a uniformly patinated, correct example of this rare reference with valuable hands. The dial bezel case pushers and crown are also all correct. What is also attractive is that I am fairly sure it is the cheapest correct 2998 available.

The watch is serviced and comes with an Extract of the Archives.

What is wrong with it?
Dial is patinated.
Case shows wear.

Delivery.
Watch is in UK and so bear that in mind. In UK, we can meet. Overseas I will ship at your expense. I would rather find a UK buyer but there you go, I have to sell to a willing buyer.

Notes on my position and ethos
I am not motivated by profit, and so I have no reason to embellish or over describe. I sell my watches to make room for more that I have bought, but mostly to reduce a collection that has become unwieldy. I have been on eBay since 2002 with 100% feedback. I have bought and sold a few watches on www.OmegaForums.net and you can find my feedback by searching my username. I am the author of Speedmaster101.com and protecting my reputation is more important to me than selling off a watch. I am not a watch dealer, I make my money elsewhere, watches are my pleasure.

Well my wife was "delivered to Peru" around the same time as this beautiful watch, and I agree, the patina on the dial is very attractive. The dial and the brown leather really compliment one another. GLWS.

I feel like you could refer to it as 'surface of the moon patina'

Changed the band, for a new hand-made one with more than one hole.

Well don't worry if she does. Some wonderful things are to be found in Peru, including this lovely old Omega Speedmaster. Brown leather and that dial are a wonderful combination.🥰
