Hi Folks!

Trying to understand how you Guys can see if the crown is original or a service...
I have tried to compare with my watch and the lovely MWO book...

So the one showing here on the pictures - Might it be an original??🤔
Or do service crowns also look the same (more or less)?
I have counted the teeth (more than one time...) and there are 24.

I always enjoy your help - so thanks in advance!

It’a service crown because the logo is the « new » version.
This is the good one

it is a part that was often changed to maintain the seal. in the past, we weren't as attentive to the details

Trying to understand...

The picture that you posted looks likes an older one (A1.24)??
But then the watch that I wonder about is a 145.022-68...

😕

I started compiling a database of Speedmaster references with crown type a few years ago but never found the time to finish it.

Notionally, the 145.022-68 tended to come with A1, the 145.022-69 was where the transition to A2 happened and although it’s hard to tell do to The prevalence of service crowns, I think the A3 can be found on some of the last -69 Straight Writings.

You might decide you like the service crown just fine when you see the prices for a decent A1!

I have one related question. So, from 69 (1970) the original and now available new crowns are the same design?
